Moving inside the Loop! wOOtage 2 da max!
Well, for the most part it's pretty set in stone. Might be a few little tweaks to deal with after tonights inspection, but everything is going along smooth and we should be closing on our new house Sept 28th, with hopes to be tearing shit up as early as that Friday night and making a weekend of painting and refreshing the place with new floors and carpet.
It's pretty much off Bass Lake Rd and 169 area. Just east of Winnetka. Nice little house, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, nicely done up with a downstairs ready to finish up. Nice street, only neighbors on the sides, close to lots of shops and food. TONS of parking, 2 car garage (we will be going to a 3 or 4 car setup), and a nice back yard.
We are really excited to get closer to the cities, get closer to work, and closer to most places we tend to go. Yeah, we are super excited! lol
So with that said, that first weekend (Sept 29th & 30th) we hope to get a few people over for food and beer and a full weekend of really making it our home.

Carl, you're more than welcome to come out and pimp our basement!
And yes Pete, we just happen to have a townhome for sale or rent now in the Otsego area. LOL

Re: Moving inside the Loop! wOOtage 2 da max!
Grats guys!!! house is the ultimate mod! its going to be a bigger time dump than the DSM was ever.. but by the looks of the place you shouldn't need to put a lot of work on it.
Check if there was any hail damage right away (siding/roof) and have current owner contact insurance while its under his insurance. get that done before closing otherwise you might not be able to get it done with yours as it was a "previous" damage.
Renting is always a good option IF you are sure you can get steady renters.
You will always have stuff to write off at the end of the year and if you make few bux it will compensate for income and you will get lots of $$ back at the end of the year.
Grats and good luck!

Yeah, I think we'd enjoy selling the townhome first, but we are going to look at renting a little as well.
The roof on the house is new as of 6/07 because of some of this years storms. So that's a perk, for the most part it's ready to be moved into with having to do nothing if we wanted.
But...... This is the plan of sorts for the first weekend
- paint dining room, living room, and all 3 upstairs bedrooms.
- rip out carpet in smallest bedroom and install new carpet
- possible do the same for matser bedroom (3rd bedroom has nice original hardwood remaining)
- rip down panneling wall of one lower level room, drywall it up while adding 2-3 more outlets, mud, tape, and paint. Rip out carpet in same room, rip out vinly flooring under that, install water protectant layer and probably new laminate flooring over carpet (not sure on which yet). Then wall it off as a bedroom.
- main lower level room get's outlets raised up a few inches, new flooring as well (rip out old carpet) and full media upgrade (built in speaker outlets).
That covers a lot of the base shit to do before we would move everything in for good.
Shit, that is going to be nutty. Looking forward to adding to the home thread. Looking forward to supplying beer & food like mad for anyone who wants to help. lol

Re: Moving inside the Loop! wOOtage 2 da max!
The best part is that once we get the garage situation settled (add on or tear down and build a new on) I can finally get something to play with again. Everything said and done, I'll probably be back with a 1G and do a very soft mod base and get into Rally cross again and also autox and maybe use that for a road course or two then.
If anyone has any good sites to go to that has plans for garages, decks, and even landscaping it would be cool to get some links. We are also going to want a lead on where to get dirt, we want to add some to the back of the house to fix the slope facing the back of the house a bit.
