I-94 Traffic

http://www.startribune.com/462/story/744411.html

Could it really be this simple for fixes to some of our traffic problems?

Re: I-94 Traffic

I am trying to picture that intersection in my head, and my guess is that this will help things. The majority of rush-hour accidents and traffic jams are caused by people not knowing how to merge properly so aslong as you keep these idiots single-file like ducks all should be well

I dunno, I kinda doubt it will help that much. People will still get into accidents in the lane that is joins traffic from downtown and 35w, and when there's no traffic, it will make flying through there @ 80mph+ a little more...hairy!

Re: I-94 Traffic

So slow down a bit if you're worried about your driving/car dodging abilities.

Personally, If I want to get through there quick, i stay in the left lane. Then fly accross 3 lanes right before the 394 exit after the tunnel. lol. Oh well, i haven't been down there for a while, so none of this really matters.

Re: I-94 Traffic

As far as the worth of projects like these in MN, I say the designers can all eat shit. They totally f-ed up 394 with that toll garbage. How about this? OPEN UP ALL 3 LANES all the time, make a dedicated bus lane on the right side that acts as a merge buffer. So simpo. delete that stupid raised section of road for the HOV lanes. Infact, it gets easier. 4 free lanes on each side. Done.

As for the 94/394 merge point, add 2 more lanes to each side starting with the on and off ramps. Just put a 2 dollar tax on cigarettes - smokers will buy them no matter how high the cost.

1 person of mediocre intellegence could probably fix all of the transportation problems in this state. The problem is giving that responsibility to 500 people of mediocre intellegence who are all more concerned with re-election.
