installing a big 16g

I already have a big 16g, but I'm taking that out and replacing it with a new one. I know I will have to drain the coolant and the oil. Will i have to replace any lines or tubes? My thought is that it will bolt right up to what I've got now since it's the same turbo. <-Is that correct?

Also, any hints or tips would be much appreciated!

Re: installing a big 16g

Just get all new gaskets and crush-washers for everything along with 4 new manifold/turbo bolts.

Re: installing a big 16g

We finished putting in the turbo at about 1:00 last night. Everything went prettys smooth except when we added coolant. There is a pipe that goes into the back/bottom of the turbo that takes two 10mm bolts and a gasket. We bolted it up as tight as we could, but it leaked coolant when we were all done. I went in to tighten the bolt a little and it broke in half. so right now the car is still up on jacks and the pipe is disconected. Is there anything i can do about that broken bolt (half of it is in the turbo!)?

HELP!

Re: installing a big 16g

you could try using an easy out to get it out. Other than that, you might have to try and drill and tap it again.

Motorcycle cop pulls up next to me on UNI and says "Want to race?"
Me- "I don't think you would stand a chance."
Cop says "probably not" and drives off.

Re: installing a big 16g

An easy out looks similar to a tap. You drill a hole in the center of the stud that is broke off. Then you screw in the easy out into that hole. They have a reverse thread so it automatically tightens itself when you attempt to back out the broken stud.

Re: installing a big 16g

So I tried to use the "easy out" and it turned out to be more of a "hard/impossible out." I guess the bolt was cross threaded somehow, so we crossed our fingers and drilled it out and taped it. Everything turned out perfect luckly! So tomorrow I'm off to the hardware store to get a bolt and then the whole new turbo goes in!!! This whole process took way too long.

Re: installing a big 16g

After stipping the threads on the newly tapped hole we decided to use some PVT heat sealant. Let it dry over night and it held like a charm. I went for a little test drive this morning and it rides beautifully. Now all i need is new injectors.
