Relatively new here...
Hey everyone,
I decided I should be polite and sociable and post an official hello thread.
I moved back to MN in August after being in Colorado for college for 4 years. Found out about this board I think from MNSC.
I bought a 95 talon TSi FWD back in like october or november, it then proceeded to immediately crankwalk. It is now Jet's problem
I bought a 92 Talon TSi AWD in mid december. Great car, loving it and all of its problems and issues. I'm smart enough to have this car as my daily driver.
My project car is a 96 civic coupe. Its turbo'ed with a t3/t04e and is soon getting a partially filled block with forged internals, and many other goodies. Hoping to crack the 500hp mark with the ghetto reinforced block. We'll see, should be fun.
Ive met 2 people on the board so far, Jet and GSTauni. Seems like a cool group here, i'm definitely up for meeting people and seeing your sweet fast cool broken DSMs this summer
I'll try to get some pictures up tonight when I get home.

Re: Relatively new here...
Like it says I am Tim. My Laser is no longer broken but it is slow, still 100% stock aside from the clutch. Hopefully make it a little quicker when taxes come and then when summer comes.

Re: Relatively new here...
What are you using to reinforce the block? They make block guards that slide in there with holes pre-drilled for coolant passages.
Maybe I should turbo the CRV. That would be a hell of a headturner on the highway!!!!

Re: Relatively new here...
your crv has a B20... not really known to be able to hold much boost unfortunately.
I'm filling it with either moroso block filler or devcon epoxy, havent decided yet. Proven to be much easier and mroe effective than block guards. I just drill my own coolant holes.

Re: Relatively new here...
I know it has a B20. If I did it, I would go B16 head with kinda the same deal you're doing with the partial fill.
I also thought about a JR supercharger with the B16 head. But more than likely this one won't get any modifications. I might buy a project car this summer and go wild. Not sure yet. Build an insane rallycross car.

Haha, nope my Honduh won't be getting a turbo, it if ever gets boost it will be a supercharger (unlikely on this one too). Turbos change the characteristics of what makes the car so great.

Yeah like not having enough torque to spin a wheel.

Re: Relatively new here...
I could have gotten a Goat brand new for less than I paid used and had gobs of wheel spinning action....no thanks, I'll keep my amazingly fun torqueless-wonder
The characteristics I was referring to were mainly instant responsivness and the way the powerband comes on.

Re: Relatively new here...
yeah, thats definitely a fun, unique thing about nicely tuned honda engines. you should go ITB's and spray some nitrous

Re: Relatively new here...
HaHaHa!! I don't think the CRV would do very good in rally. It would be fun to do though.

Nope and nope; #1 is nowhere near practical for a daily-driver (although it has been done), and #2 I've just never been a fan of nitrous. Not to mention I'm trying to curb my spending on car-mods, sticking to just a few things here and there. I don't want it turning into what my Talon did. That lost its appeal to me about 2 years ago.

Re: Relatively new here...
haha, alright man... didnt know you weren't looking to mod it altogether, thats obviously a whole different story. And a nicely tuned ITB setup with stack filters is just fine for daily driving Unfortunately your car in stock form isnt much to brag about, but if thats what youre going for, then awesome. I think most of us get sick of unreliability and just want a reliable, nice, fun car to get to work and back.
ive personally never been a fan of nitrous either, but my civic is getting a small shot to spool the turbo just so i can be that much better of a track queen
