Clutch Problems

I just swapped engines in my car and i installed a new clutch also. I did NOT get the flywheel machined. The car starts fine but the pedal doesnt hasve any pressure build up. I cannot shift into gear. I have bled the slave cylinder quite a few times. Fluid level is fine. Anyone have any ideas? Im sure it is something pretty easy. I also installed a new throw bearing that came with the clutch.

Have someone look to see if the fork moves when you press the pedal. Make sure there are no leaks anywhere along the clutch line, from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder.

I agree with Matt. Also, is this an aftermarket clutch? Have you tried adjusting the pedal at all?

something like this wouldn't be caused by an un-machined flywheel. make sure the fork is actually moving like matt said. there's probably a hydraulic issue somewhere

Make sure the fork is actually moving and adjust your clutch master cylinder.

I've adjusted the pedal. I've checked for leaks. I've bled more. I've checked the fork. It moves. Im thinking something had to have fallen out or moved when i put the tranny back on. The clutch is stock. Just new. I just cant think of what it can be other than me installing the throw out bearing wrong. Or.. When i dropped the tranny out, the fork moved and i didnt catch it before i put it back in. And after all the work of swapping engines, i dont want to get back under the car...

I think i might have to take off the transmission and inspect it just to let myself know that its all right. Haha.. anyone want to drop the tranny for me. Ill pay you.

Anyone have any ideas? Maybe just maybe did i not catch that the fork was out of place or the throw out bearing wasnt installed correctly.

Did you put that little ring clip around your throw out bearing? It holds the bearing to the fork. If you put that on, and it clipped on, in place, I can't imagine the TOB being installed wrong.

Take the slave cylinder off, and play with the fork. Make sure you only have "in and out play" (fork moves towards engine, away from engine) and no "side to side" play (wiggle from fron of vehicle to rear). I'm thinking that will let you know about the TOB being installed wrong, or the fork not seated on the pivot ball correctly. That's my hunch...

Also, I never tried this, maybe someone knows. Are those rubber breathers on the tranny removable, and if so could this be used to take a peep inside the tranny with like an LED light, to see what's going on?

I looked at my buddies transmission. I think i installed the TOB wrong. Im gonna pull it off tonight and check it out. I saw that the tabs are supose to go around the fork and if i remember right i didnt put it around the fork.

Keep us up to date, and hope all goes smoothly. You may need a new TOB if it was installed wrong, and you applied peddle pressure. If so, at least they are not expensive.

The bell housing was cracked....

There was a transmission alignment dowel hole missing on the block. It was broken right off. The tranny rotated and broke the bell housing, the flywheel then started to carve away at the bell housing also. Total suckage. Anyone looking at buying a Laser?

Anyone have any ideas on fixing the missing dowel hole right next to the front motor mount?
