Just got back from WRC Rally Mexico

Spent the last few days driving a crappy 1.6l Nissan around on dead dog ridden highways and so called dirt "roads" in Mexico.

Here are a few pictures from the rally.

A Skoda from the opening ceremonies taken from our hotel balcony

Solberg's STi coming towards us on stage 2 of the rally

Panizzi waiting by his Lancer to go into service. It was missing a few parts of the body on the rear and passenger front.

Gardemeister's Ford Focus in service.

Kind of a slideshow pic of one of the Lancers flying by us after hitting a jump.

Re: Just got back from WRC Rally Mexico

How did you get so lucky with your hotel basically on top of the podium? Must have been a blast. I would love to see the rest of the photos. If Alan doesnt have space here I do elsewhere.

Dan

Planning a trip next year to go down for a 30th b-day. Right now we have 8 people so far. Cant wait.

Re: Just got back from WRC Rally Mexico

Yeah, name of hotel for reservations is needed! I have plenty of space for pics so that's not a concern. Jana and I want to go to a WRC so bad and this one woud be the simplest to go see but the New Zealand and Austraila races would be my fist choice.

There are more pics and stuff here : http://www.rallymexico.com/gallery.asp

Re: Just got back from WRC Rally Mexico

Just curious, if you don't mind sharing, how much did your trip roughly cost (hotel, etc)?

We reserved our room back in November and asked for a balcony for the same price. We didn't know until we got there that we would be right over the stage. I think Mara knew the hotel was in the same center square area as the opening ceromonies. It was my birthday while I was there also. The hotel was called Hotel San Diego, I think it was like $60-75 a night.

I don't know how much the trip cost. Mara did most of that. We flew for free and spent a few hundred on a rental car. We spent around 3-4 days in the area of the 2 towns where the rally was held. Stuff is a bit cheaper in Mexico, but it isn't as cheap as other places we have been. We drove around other parts of the country also though, while we were there. We spent a few days in a small village town on the ocean and went to some pyramids near Mexico City, etc.

Where can I put a bunch of pictures?

You should be able to upload them in the gallery. Let me or Allan know if you have problems. I'd love to see more pics!!

Re: Just got back from WRC Rally Mexico

Some of the pictures suck. Trying to get pictures of a car flying by at 60mph, 10 feet in front of you with a laggy digital camera can be tough.
