Our new ride
Well we did it. Bought our first new car. We had been looking around for some time. Drove a Dodge Caliber, Lexus RX330, and Mazdaspeed6 all in recent weeks. Also had the ever constant though of wanting the fun aspect back and that alwasy pointed me to an EVO. I was trying to sell the Jeep outright and pick up a certain black 2G AWD as well, but the Jeep just wasn't moving.
So all in all we found a car that just fit the bill on what we wanted out of a ride we'd have for several years.
Week now roll in a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 GT.
Standard Engine 2.3L I4
Standard Transmission 6 Speed Manual
Horsepower @ RPM 270@5500
Torque @ RPM 280@3000
Overall, I love every min driving this car it's the fun I'm looking for and the comfort and perks Jana and I both enjoy.
I'll try and take some pics of it soon. I'm hoping we toss in autostart and a nice window tinting before it get's too cold as well, then she will be 100% complete.
I'm going to wait on a DSM till we get a house with more room to work on it and store it.
We also locked in a 7 year / 75k mile warrenty and a few other perks as well. Like free oil changes as long as we own the car. And 5 cents off gas for 2 years, I think this comes in a $2000.00 gas card.
The best thing is the insurace was only $10 a month higher than what we paid for the Jeep, and we get 10 more mpg.

Re: Our new ride
Sounds great! I'm sure you'll love the car, I was definitely impressed when I test-drove one as you well know. Did you get that darker silver color? Good warranty, free oil changes is great, and the $2000 gas card is cool. Check out that BP credit card though, definitely a great deal.

Re: Our new ride
I've seen the car. This thing is TITS, and I would love to have one for a daily driver.

Re: Our new ride
Don't forget to buy snow wheels/tires pretty quick here! Those 050's will not move in snow and get pretty slick in anything below 40.

Re: Our new ride
Yeah, I've already got my eye on a set of Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozeros. It's either that or the Blizzak LM-22's for about $50 more a tire. I'm pretty limited with rollin on 18s. LOL

Re: Our new ride
Sweet! What color is it? Have you taken it across the street into the pits to test out the AWD?

Re: Our new ride
We got a pretty good deal, came in with some negative equity, and picked up a few options (like GAP and longer warrenty).
Sticker on the GT with Nav was 33K and they had "incentives" to get that down to 30k. They had a dealer demo with 48xx miles on it in the package and color we wanted so they started that one at 27k and we went from there. We walked out the door without spending a dime and feel we got a good enough deal out of it to be happy. I'm sure we could of haggeled some more, but most of the deeper discounts they where giving out was for the sport and not so much the GT with the Navagation system. Plus a friend at work is the roomate of the car salesman we used, so we felt pretty good he was screwing us less than normal.

The nice thing, is that it's not made in any of the US Ford plants. It's 100% JDM yo!
I'll post some picts to show the color later.

Re: Our new ride
Yeah this car is hardly like the regular Ford Taurus version Mazda 6.

27k for a Mazda? ? ? Holy shit! Is this some super duper performance version, like a TT RX-7 or something? Do you have a picture of this thing?

A simple search of the Mazda website yields the answers you desire.

The big difference was the financing on this, and I don't think I want to know what your price would have been.
And we know where we are going when Jana's car gets replaced with a Malibu.
