Who has made the DSM link plug adapter?
Ok, I don't need a speech on why I shouldn't do this and just buy DSMlink with everything I need from them, BUT I have a friend that can socket the ECU, I can get the software, and the cable. All that's left is the plug adapter. So anybody direct to me making this?

Re: Who has made the DSM link plug adapter?
I have dsmlink. The cable adapter has a chip in it that's proprietary and copyrighted code on it. Inside that box is not just a bunch of resistors, transistors and diodes. If you got a friend that can socket it, just spend $500 and buy one and you'll have full access to the dsmlink forums. There is no point in stealing someone elses hard work. I respect Dave and Thomas excellent support they provide. It was well worth the money. By the way- if you stole code off of someone elses chip using a programmer/reader there is code on there as to who the original buyer was.

Re: Who has made the DSM link plug adapter?
the connector/plug has all of the numbers scratched off of the chips to thwart people from copying their DSMLink.
I know you said you didn't want to hear it but why would you want to rip off Thomas and Dave? Those guys are DSMers like us, they are very active in the community and are very helpful with their product and other DSM issues. Just an FYI.

Re: Who has made the DSM link plug adapter?
I know its been done before, they're some guy in Michigan that was doing it. Only problem is that Thomas and Dave find out about this shit and go after those people. I have dsmlink and I've never taken apart the adapter to see whats in it. Kinda afraid it will stop working.

Be safe and don't do it... Back in the day when i had the Alex Pepper logger i took it apart to see about reverse engineering and ended up ruining it because when i pulled it apart, i ended up pulling some of the foil off the PC Board.

You're telling me you've never stolen anything in your life? ESPECIALLY when you were in the teens.

Re: Who has made the DSM link plug adapter?
I agree, the guys at DSMLINK deserve their $ for all their hard work and skill.
Yes we have all made mistakes, but most of us have learned, stealing is plain wrong.
That's shooting pretty low man, plotting to rip off a solid DSM vendor.
Hope you change mind on this man, and do just the RIGHT thing!
Just be patient and save some of your $ and buy a used setup for $500.00
It will happen quicker thatn you think and you'll feel better about it as well.

Re: Who has made the DSM link plug adapter?
Um, just get a chip burner off ebay and burn chips the old fashion way. Or is all that info not out there for 2G's?

Re: Who has made the DSM link plug adapter?
BS, I bet everyone one of you complaining would happilly buy an untraceable identical copy at $200-$250 rather than spending the $500+ full price.

Re: Who has made the DSM link plug adapter?
Normally I would agree. But in this case it would kill any future updates and support so no I'd rather pay the money to the people who deserve it. Buying a copy is too short sighted, but I guess that's the American way (who cares about the future when you can profit/save now).

Wow, what does this have to do with "the American way?" If anything this is the Chinese way, they copy everything and sell it for pennies.

They just make the crap, it's the Americans who bring the product to them, tell them to make it, and then sell it back here at Walmart to the same people who got laid off by moving the production to China.
