Use the search feature. It's been talked about here many times.

It is a daily topic in one form or another. As Mike said, search for it and you will learn more than you ever wanted to know.

Here's a zip with all the information I collected two years ago on it:
http://christopher.implex.net/4G64Swap.zip

Some of it is just general rebuild info for DSM's and 7 bolt / crankwalk issues in particular. The page "4G64 Info Page.htm" is probably the main page you'll be interested in.

Note that none of it is gospel. It's what I personally thought was relevant two years ago when I started my rebuild. I won't be responsible for inaccurate information and you should always do your own research and come to your own conclusions as well.

But what if you're keeping your 2G Head?
Things you will need from a 6 bolt DSM

6 bolt head studs (ARPs!)
6 bolt flywheel
6 bolt oil pan
6 bolt oil pickup
1g cas
6 bolt crank timing sprocket and backplate
6 bolt front case and oil gears
6 bolt oil filter housing
6 bolt water pump
6 bolt hydraulic tensioner and arm
6 bolt idler pulleys for the timing belt
6 bolt timing belt cover (needs to be modified to clear the 2g front engine mount)
94 Galant DOHC 4g64 headgasket
94 Galant DOHC 4g64 timing belt
94 Galant DOHC 4g64 cam gears or remark you stockers (I can do this for free)

Stuff you reuse off of your 7 bolt-

2g head (needs to have head stud holes drilled out slightly bigger to accept 6 bolt headstuds)
2g intake and t-body
2g Cam gears (remark timing notches for 2.4)
2g rear balance shaft sprocket
2g crank pulley
2g thermostat housing
2g water pipe
2g waterpump pulley
2g front engine mount (needs to be modified to clear the waterpump)
Reuse all of your 2g accesories and brackets with new belts
Reuse all of your 2g sensors (knock, oil, coolant temp, etc.) except crank trigger and 2g cas.
2g exhaust manifold

I am sure I am forgetting a couple things but this is what I used to get my 6 bolt 2.4 installed in my 95 with my 2g head.

Brian, if you have any specific questions, I'll be glad to share them. I did the entire install by myself except for lining up the timing belt. I have a brand new 94 Galant DOHC gear that can be used to remark yours or anyone elses stock cam gears for the 2.4.

I'm sure once I start to assemble the motor I'll be asking alot more questions.

right now I'm in the process of gathering everything I need to put the motor together.

Thanks for the info. Now I know what my shopping list is going to be.

Why would you want to choke down/restrict a 2.4L with a 2g head?

Sell the 2g head. You can pick a stock reman 1g head really cheap. I've seen them on eBay ready to go for $250.00-300.00. It will flow much better than the 2g head.

Well I don't want to sell my magnus SMI, or have to buy all that other stuff I already have,

Plus I plan to port the 2G head. Hense the comments about Raptor posting his information.

You can make a 2g head flow more than a 1g head, but it requires raising the intake port roof, relocating the injectors/rail assembly and extensive porting.

We know actually, at that point it is way beyond a 1G head, it will flow better than the most ported 1G head in fact, that is why the 2G head is desireable, it is better base to go extreme with. One of these days I will post pics of the sectioned heads we have sitting by the porting bench, they are pretty interesting. We have quest ones cut up as well as a stealth head this week. The flowbench is getting closer as well so I will be able to show you numbers. One thing about head flow, it is possible to make a head flow more and lose horsepower from fuel suspension issues, so the flowbench will have wet flow capabilities so we can make sure that isn't the case.

Well if you want a test vehicle to use to try out your Race port 2G head. You know how to get a hold of me!

Also when you say relocate your injectors what/where are you talking about?

You don't need to go hog wild on a 2G head to make power, they're not that bad.

well if Eclipsed20G can make 551whp on a stock 7 bolt, stock 2G TB, stock 2G Intake, with just cams and ARP's then I should be good to go cause that's about where I want to be.

Some shops who are going for the extreme flow raise the roof of the intake port, enough to have to move the injectors up and closer to the valve cover surface.

Honda's and EVOs have tiny ports. Both can make a lot of power without having to touch the head. Bigger isn't always better. The stock 2G intake manifold sucks, most people so the 1G head and 1G intake at the same time and possibly get most of their power gain from the intake manifold.

Hopefully next year I'll try to see just how far I can go with a Stock 2G head.

Hopefully 35psi@c16 will give me some good results...but only time will tell.
