Scott Parrott (number 509 in ProRally) had that happen to his Neon this weekend. He said when the car finally stopped, he popped the hood. The exhaust side of the turbo was so hot it was near translucent. He said he could make out the shape of the exhaust wheel inside the turbo just by looking at it. Now THAT is hot!!!!!!!!!!

Thats what happened in my friend's Talon. We were waiting for it to start melting. That cannot be healthy.

Liquid or solid, metal is metal and no such metal exists that is transparent.
