Get a Cometic..........Some people will recomend Mitsu. MLS. But from MY experiance MOST of the cars I'VE SEEN with the Mitsu. MLS gasket and decent boost levels have pushed water. Other peple say mitsu MLS will hold 30+psi for years...I've heard of it too ........just never seen one hold personally.

I dunno...........they are like $20 differnce in price. I don't wanna take my head off and more than I have to, so I got the Cometic.

MagnusMotorsports.com has them in stock....or you can order them from any race shop.

-Matt

NOTE: Only your head gasket blew???? Why?......Overheat or detonation? Did you already do a compression check/borescope? How do your spark plugs look? Did you melt a head or piston too??? Is the head warped?

Just askin'...........The head gasket might be the least of your worries!

Get a stock Mitsu one. They will hold 28+ psi of boost and they will blow instead of your rods/pistons if your detonating. I would only do a Mitsu metal or Cometic if your getting the head AND block milled 100% true.

I run a stock mitsu with copper spray. I have run 36psi with no coolant pushing at all. And 10 back to back to back runs at 35psi on a dyno. I also run 28psi on pump gas, alsmost everyday. So unless you are decking the block and the head I would not use anything but a mitsu stock. Also I trq my head studs to 110 lb/ft so I think that has a lot do with my head gasket not blowing out on me.

also find out wy it went out on you.

Yeah, only go with a stock mitsu unless you are milling the head and decking the block. Aka, Shane is correct.

i think that it blew because the kid i bought the car from drove it for a week and blew the clutch. now the groid he bought it from said that he had gone through the motor. personally i think he did it half-assed.

the head is ok as well as the pistons and everything else. there was a huge gash in the gasket. im just running a mbc, free mods and no cat. could it be a boost issue?

i am going to get the head plained but not the block.

yeah, the head would most likely warp. My car looses coolant at 19psi pump. It pushes it out the exhaust. Only under boost though. I plan on throwing on a composite gasket , hopefully this weekend. Should I use copperspray?

I neither milled my my block or head and use a Mitsu metal HG with copper spray. Didn't leak a drop doing many runs at 30 psi. YMMV.

If you are doing the head gasket, you should go ahead and do ARP's as well, the factory head bolts are not meant to be reused as they are TTY bolts. Follow what Shane and John mentioned but 110 lbs is more than you need and will just make your cylinders further OOR. Follow ARP's torque recs for what you have. Make sure your head is flat any route you take.
