Dubstep

Kind of curious as to who on style listen's to Dubstep music? A lot of our active members are of a more mature audience, and perhaps agree with this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5jJXnuVxyY&feature=fvst Not sure???

Personally I Like Dubstep quite a bit and enjoy mixing some of my favorite tracks together that are anywhere from an hour long to less. Mostly for long cruise's ect just hit play, and focus on the road instead of skipping through my music . I know we had a thread back in the day where we discussed peoples favorite tracks ect which they like to listen to while driving. Personally some of my favorite artists are skrillex, bassnectar, flux, excision, rusko a lot of mainstream artists. I like tons of more underground stuff to....Ive always wonderd if a Mitsu Mix tape kind of deal could be made for the cruises ? That would be cool ....maybe...

Example of a mix http://soundcloud.com/safewayzone/dqp-mix-6 im not no Daily dose of dubstep, for the people that know what that is or shambhala, but i sure do enjoy mixing!

Re: Dubstep

dubstep and that crap is retarded. it sounds like ass and is made by people with no actuall musical talent.

also the square waves used to make the wobbley sound is a lot more harsh on your speakers than normal sine waves. its kind of like having a nitrous kit instead of having a turbo at the same power level. where the turbo would provide nice smooth oncoming power. the nitrous is just a lot more harsh, on/off, instead of smooth transistions.

Re: Dubstep

I must be one of the parents that link is targeted at because I czn't stand that garbage called "music". More like noise to me.

"Music" is played by instruments (musical ones), not computers IMO.

I find most of them not that great. There are some that I like. More on the mild side though. I prefer trance/house over dubstep though.

wow that is something i never ever knew! I wonder if my sub blew faster because of that...then a regular used sub would have? I dont know prolly just a bad set up,....but i think i might have to disagree with the musical talent...i tried using ableton to learn and get an idea of how dubstep music is made....and there is no way someone with no talent could understand how to make a song....its so complicated! Interetingly though a friend of my parent said the same thing about the musical instruments and i had to go through almost half my collection to find a song with a instrument...ended up being a james bond song

Electronic music is very popular and dosnt use a lot of instruments either....though...hmmm

Re: Dubstep

yea i was talking about the ramp and drop off rates. a square wave either demands full power or no power at all. This will cause premature failure of the materials

Who decides what qualifies as an instrument?

Exactly. Who's to judge whether a computer can't be an instrument?

I do not care for it much. It's def great music to be around in big parties. I just cant stand how mainstream it has gotten, where everyone and their mother is doing a dubstep song. Take Korn for example, that shit is terrible. Or the fact that there is a 'Now That's What I Call Dubstep' cd out now. There's a lot of it that I hate, but some I like. Recently went down to Barfly to see a friend DJ, and I def liked his set.

Re: Dubstep

See my question, to the ones that have listened to dubstep and dislike it...what kind of dubstep or artist did you listen to??? Because the first time i heard dubstep sure wasnt no skrillex...datsik and who ever else has made it big! Instead it was some uber corny skeetchy basement artist's. Personally i come from a heavy, trance, techno, hardstyle drum and base background. Once i discovered Drumstep and the likes IT TOTALLY RE-DEFINED EVERYTHING!

Tiesto, Dead maus and their likes personally arent even on the same field no more....Funny how turbotalon says it needs to be something he can shake it 2 ha HOW COULD YOU NOT GET PUMPED TO THIS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86khm...re=relmfu....i mean every one has their likes but hmmm!

Not to mention the brake away from traditional flutes pianos, heck what else whistles??? ect is what i personally think makes dubstep unique as well as just different.
