What suv to get?
So long story short I absolutely hate our MDX and looking to get into something diffrent.
I have 2 kids and a bulldog so anything Tahoe size and smaller would be sufficient.
Looking for some opinions on what you may have owned or looked into owning.
Right now I've convinced my wife to go with a TB SS/black on black. I've yet to drive one but I rode in one and it was pretty nice.
I also drove a jeep SRT 8 a few years ago and it was ok. Maybe I'll have to drive another one.
Other options
Aviator
Navigator
Yukon Denali
Must have leather heated seats, rear DVD for the kiddos.
I used to have an aviator and actual liked it alot. It got decent gas milage so this maybe what I get again. Who knows.
Gas milage really isn't an issue sine our mdx has been getting -16mpg for almost a year.
Resale value to I want to take into consideration
Price 15-24k
Thanks

What do you hate the MDX? May help in getting better advice from people. I'm personally partial to Jeep Grand Cherokees, especially the newer ones.

Re: What suv to get?
Maybe not all mdxs suck but mine does forsure.
Issues that I nor a mechanic can figure out
Small shake in the front comes and goes.
Ive replaced both wheel bearings, Axels, carrier bearing, lower motor mount. Hasn't changed anything
After about 20 mins of driving there's a loud vibration that does not stop unless you get off the gas. This happens at 1500/2000 rpm
Tranny us the issue from what I've read.
Shitty gas milage -16 mpg
Replaced plugs/coils filters ect. Nothing
Vtr-4 light comes and goes for no reason
No idea we checked the sensor at the tranny all was fine.
There's more but like I said I just hate it. Mostly just mechanical really.

Re: What suv to get?
By far the best SUV I have driven was an Acura RDX. Very very fun to drive, turbo and very luxurious. It was just smaller, but solid gas mileage because it is.
Probably not what you want so others I have thought were solid is the ole trusty ford explorer or maybe a nissan pathfinder.

Re: What suv to get?
I like my Yukon Denali XL, Lots of room, kids love the DVD (sanity for the parents). Tows great, drives great. Rear camera is an ABSOLUTE MUST if you get an XL. The truck is massive. We dont drive it around town too much because we have the lancer for that. but it works great when we need it. And you gotta love the sound of the 6.2L engine. Sounds badass and has some good pickup.

Re: What suv to get?
I rented a GMC Acadia AWD, same interior space as a Tahoe, has plenty of pep, and good MPG. The GMC averaged 22 mpg @ 80 mph going to Colorado, which was impressive. I think if I were to need a SUV this would be at the top of the list.

Re: What suv to get?
yeah the acadias are nice. We looked at one the other day when we were thinking about trading in the denali, but ultimately decided against doing any sort of trade in on it.

Re: What suv to get?
The trailblazer ss is a nice truck. Fun to drive and nice riding but sporty. The srt8 is a step up in power and handles better but it is a harder ride. the srt 8 is will put you in your seat but the tb/ss is not put you in your seat. My work had both that I didnt drive a couple of times. I like the inside of the cheap alot more then the tb/ss. If I was going to buy a suv it would be a jeep. You cant go wrong with any gm suv either. The gm 6.0 v8 motors love to break the exhaust manifold studs.

Re: What suv to get?
I can provide a little feedback on my experience with my Envoy. I love it. The TB/Envoy's run forever. The Inline 6's run very smooth and don't quit, and have enough power to tow larger things OK like our boat and occasional car on a flatbed. They are very decently priced too. I'm at 140k on mine right now, planning on taking it to 200k. My dad also has one and he loves it.
The downfalls of it are gas mileage (applies to pretty much any SUV). On a long highway drive I can get low 20's. Mixed driving I'm usually right around 18-20mpg. Also the 4wd system I'm not the most impressed with.
But I love it. Still looks nice for it's age (you'd never think it is an 03 w/ 140k at first glimpse), runs real well, maintenance to it is fairly simple and cheap, and tows (boat and car) pretty regularly in the summer and it's still kicking. I've had to do a couple things to it (i.e. $20 tranny solenoids), but nothing all that crazy for a vehicle it's age/mileage.
I also have a buddy who loves his grand cherokee's. Feels much more like a car than some of the other SUV's I've been in. They are pretty nice. But he rarely is able to get out of the teens for mileage.

Re: What suv to get?
I'll be in the market for an suv once we can sell emily's Lincoln LS. When we do I'll be looking at endeavors and some monteros. I like the look of the monteros a little more but the endeavor seems all around better for mileage, etc. I thought the endeavors got like 26ish hwy mileage and I think the top model had leather too. Something to look into anywho.

Re: What suv to get?
Okay, I'm completely biased from obvious reasons! But come see me and check out the Outlander!
The GT (230HP V6) might be a little less power than those you've mentioned, but you can get it with all the bells and whistles you're looking for.

Re: What suv to get?
Thanks guys.
If I bought an XL size truck. I'd have to say I'd get a '01-'02 7.3 excursion. That size vehicle is not needed though.
Also I don't need a tow rig either as I already have my 3500 6.0 chevy molester van for that
Basically it's gonna be used by my wife 2 days a week for work, and as a family vehicle.

Yeah, the Endevor SE comes loaded. Basically the only options you could add in to an SE Endevor were DvD, Nav and Sunroof, similar to the Montero Limited. There weren't many options to pick from because it basically had everything else anyway. They're rated at 21 Highway, BTW.

I would say stay away from any Ford suvs/trucks definitely. Dont think about a Chrysler Pacifica either.

Re: What suv to get?
I've got the new style Tahoe and absolutely love it, best vehicle I've ever owned and I've had almost 1000. Make sure you get it loaded up, LT3 or better, the nav and back up camera are really nice. They just ride awesome, look great, and fit a ton of people comfortably, plus you can tow shit. Great ride all around and easily within your budget.

Re: What suv to get?
Definitely a jeep. It's all I have ever had when I was up north. Love the 4wd system.

Jeep or jeep SRT-8? It's hard to find them in my price range but might have to make it work.
