New Daily Driver

Just picked this up today to replace my 2001 GTP.

2008 White Grand Prix GXP 5.3 liter LS4 V8 loaded with everything except NAV. 60k miles

Only thing I will do to it is an 'overkill' tune, CAI, cat-back, tranny cooler, HID lows and fogs, and tint the windows.

Nice! My mom has a 3800-V6 series of this car. And I must say that thing has balls. I can only imagine what this things has for power.

Nice car but it really is silly they have a big v8 driving the front wheels.

Re: New Daily Driver

Yeah Chris, with FWD of course. And to be honest it having front wheel drive doesn't bother me. It has some torque steer, but they did a good job engineering it so it isn't too much to handle. For a bigger car it handles like its on rails, its no EVO but its very comparable to a new Camaro/Mustang.

The car is so unassuming as well, people get very surprised to here a LS4 exhaust rumble past them from a Grand Prix.

So far I love it, perfect daily driving sedan. Plus I just drove it back and forth to the cities and back and it got 27.8 mpg average. Not bad for a 300+hp V8.

Dam thats some good mpg for a v8. Whats with the tune? Are they detuned from the factory?

Re: New Daily Driver

FWD? For some reason I thought it was a G8, but I see now that it's not.

What's an 'overkill' tune? I assume just a tune with those mods but to say anything is 'overkill' is a little...well nevermind it's a Pontiac

Nice car man, should be comfy for ya! Will it be as quick as the GTP?

Re: New Daily Driver

Ha ha, 'Overkill' is just the name of the company that does canned tunes for these cars. There is nothing 'overkill' about it at all, just a little more power and firmer shifts. This car stock isn't as fast as the GTP (the GTP had 360whp) since the GTP was significantly modded. But the low end grunt and feel of the V8 is just better. With the mods I do, I should be around 400whp out of the LS4 which will be more than plenty since it is FWD.

I agree FWD sucks, but its my compromise to driving it all year around, I don't wanna spend 30k on an EVO X just yet
