tranny will not go in 1 3 5

I have a 92 awd and a 92 tranny and the cables are a 92 and same with the brackets and it will go in to 2 4 r but no 1 3 5 at all it acts like it is in neutral and thought what to do.

I did that and that did not work and the new ones are not adjustable

When you put it in first does it stay in the first gear position? Try taking the cables off and shift th tranny by hand. And see if you can get it in 1st 3rd and 5th.

your adjusting it on the shifter right? they should be adjustable there.

Sounds like a linkage problem.

Where would the problem be? Do you have a idea? I thought it would be a linkage problem but where?

If it shifts just fine by hand with the calbes not connected I would think it'd be a problem with the cables that moves with moving the shifter up and down.

If you disconnect the cables from the trans, does it still seem like it locks you out of 1/3/5?

ive seen the car. its 100% in the cables or the cable mounts. its about half an inch too short to push it into those gears, even when adjusted all the way out. i personally think either the; 1cables are the wrong cables, 2 the cable bracket on the trans is the wrong one or something along those lines

that is what i am thinking to but how to get the shifter off of the old tranny and put it on the new one.

i think swapping that arm will solve all but you shouldnt have to, there should be something else that would make it work with the arm thats in it. but if we can get your arm off then i believe youl be golden

Take a good pic of the cable bracket that bolts to the trans.

i got it to go in 3 5 but still no 1 but all the other gears work any body has this problem at all and i adj the cables all the way.

Is it possible that you have the cables switched, or are they the same length? Have you actually driven the car (reverse in the car is what the cables are putting the tranny in)? Just some more ideas.

ya i have driven the car and no the cables r not switched at all it going in 1 in the car not on the tranny when i let the clutch out the car dosnt move.
