Re: Conservative push for legalization?

Well, I am sure not a conservative, but I have always thought the idea of individual freedom/choice, smaller government (drug enforcement has ballooned the police, court and prison systems) and fiscal responsibility (the cost for enforcement is massive, far more than any "welfare" programs) would be ideas that appeal to conservatives.

It's not going to save the country. It'll help though.

Theres no reason it shouldn't be illegal. You can't overdose, it's relaxing, has many medical benefits, etc etc.

I'm surprised alcohol is legal TBH. You can die from it easily, become addicted fairly easy, and has a lot of terrible long term effects. Oh well.

Pot should be sold the way tobacco is in italy, basically the government owns the business and collects all profits created. Think about the biggest drug dealer you know, know imagine that guy sold to everyone in the U.S. coast 2 coast.

So yes I think They should and need to legalize.

Re: Conservative push for legalization?

HKSenilyks, your screen name is hard to type. Also are you nuts? You want to expand government? That's what republicans hate most, besides gays, jews, mexicans, taxes and liberals. If you are really saying that the gub'ment should own all tobacco production and realize all profits from sales of it, that is the "communism" fear that is instilled in every GOP supporter by their overlords. Might as well give it to large corporations, which are basically a front for the government since they are all intertwined and share profits.

I suppose that sounds crazy. Anyway, back on topic here. I know some pot heads, and they have thrown their life in the garbage trying to smoke weed all the time. They become sloths and the only desire circling in their head all day is their next toke. Man, you call it freedom, but you are enslaved to just one more man. Your weed man. You spend a shitload of money on a 10 minute high. On a gas tune, if I spent that same amount fuel, I could drive half way to Colorado easy. 60 bucks a bag, lol. pot heads.

That's ridiculous. Did you put any thought into that before you typed it, or did it just slip out unchecked?

Re: Conservative push for legalization?

While I'm not a pot smoker, I did do it once in a while in high school. I wouldn't care if it was legalized, a lot of people in this country do it and I'm sure a decent amount of money would be made from it to help pay for debt this country has accumulated, moreso recently :P

I have a friend who's smoked pot/sold it since he was like 14 all the way to current day. He got an academic full ride at the U of M and finished his 4 year psychology degree with honors. It really doesn't affect you that much at all. Some people just try and use it as a lazy excuse.

And for the record I don't smoke it, just a supporter.

And as far as your first paragraph, you should go through any kind thought process before you post.

Re: Conservative push for legalization?

I like to piss off the other party just as much as the next guy. Maybe your buddy wasn't a heavy user, but if people smoked pot like they do with cigs, there would be a whole lot of drooling 'tards walking around.

If it's who I am thinking of, he was a heavy user (probably still is).

Yep, I'm sure you know who I'm talking about Mike. And yes, heavy user. More than anyone else I know. He has his own farm to grow it for fucks sake.

some people do smoke pot like they do cigs. Once you build up a tolerance, you don't get retarded all the time. Just happy-go-lucky.

Are you high? Or just sheltered?

Anyways, I know plenty of fully functioning burners that are contributing members of society. I think it is stupid that pot is illegal in the first place, IMO it's FAR less harmful than alcohol, and 99.9% of the people who smoke are not drooling idiots.

Hell, even de-criminalizing it like Canada would save us boatloads of money.

Me and Kracka were talking about this the other day.
Legalize pot, then make all current illegal aliens legal (because they know how to grow it better and cheaper). Tax the sales and growing of marijuana and kiss the deficit goodbye.
Also, i hate the fact that they are making this out to be a Conservative issue. This is on both sides, democrats have been calling for this for years.

That's why it's a big deal I need to call hell and make sure it isn't frozen over

Actually I've never seen a Dem or Rep with any real swing in DC push very hard for Fed legalization. It's always a rally for the stoner vote leading up to Nov. every time they even bring it up. They figure the true stoners will forget about it after the election.

I think it would be a good idea and help raise $$ and open up a few jobs. I think the biggest thing holding it back is there is no accurate field sobriety test out yet.

Why would there need to be? Everyone that smokes drives more cautious than anyone else on the road out of paranoia haha

A national tax on alcohol would probably yield a shit load more money. Marijuana is cheap compared to alcohol and if it's legal, that would only drop the prices a lot more. The only illegal aliens I know of who might be better at growing it and doing it cheaper would be from Canada or the Netherlands.

I saw a show on BBC where some older lady tried to be a pothead for a bit. They did some road tests of her normal vs alcohol vs marijuana. On alcohol she thought she was a better drive, but was much worse and on marijuana they couldn't get good results because she wouldn't ever get up to full speed.
