Well my car has had a slipping clutch and a tranny that grinds into second more than R Kelly does on teeny boppers. I've had my new clutch sitting here in my room for about a month, but I've been waiting to install it until i get a new tranny. Well this Saturday when we head to San Diego to party, we're gunna also pick up 2 jdm galant vr4 trannies for 700 bux total for both. Pretty excited. My car should be ready for the road trip to MN in no time now!!

Yeah, my car has that R. Kelly thing going on now also. Hopefully the new trannies are in decent shape.

no its not for you! and ya they're in good shape. My buddy has a hook up out there on trannies. Actually I don't know how many people here have heard of the infamous Manny from the DSM world who rips people off on the trader and tuners. Well my buddy Sean knows him, and met the guy who hooks Manny up with the trannies he sells on the trader, and now my buddy Sean gets jdm gvr4 trannies from this place for 250 a pop. and Sean just so happened to have 2 of em, and 2 of us need trannies. So we're gettin em for 350 a piece, not to bad if you ask me.

Picked up the trannies yesterday! Now we just gotta put em in. God I hate doing trannies. I haven't met a person yet who has as much problems putting them in as me. We usually get them in about like 80% of the way as in like in PLACE where you can start putting the bolts back in. It's like the casing just wants to rub against the pressure plate and it doesn't wanna get in that last little bit. The end usually consists of 2 of us with huge pry rods making it get in that last little bit. I don't see how you guys do this crap on jackstands in your driveway.

hahaha, see that's exactly what drives me nutz, i don't know why its so tuff. I've only done 2 1g awd's, and about to do 2 more. Both the ones we did were the same, they went in the same difficult way. Hopefully this time it goes nicer. Maybe it just comes with experience or sumthin.

well we took out my tranny today. Took us about 4 hours. Tomorrow the new one goes in. I hope it goes smooth. But first I have a couple questions. When we took out the passenger side axel, there is this green, i dunno what to call it, i guess coupling that goes into the tranny. How the heck does that thing come out? We couldn't get it out for the life of us.

You mean the Axle? That is the only thing going into the tranny and it is held in there with a c clip that you have to wiggle around and pull on the axle at the same time and it should pop out.

Stick a chisel, big screwdriver, etc between the green part and the tranny, then give it a smack with a hammer. It will pop right out.

On a 1g the inner axle cup is green. He is just talking about the whole cup that goes into the tranny.

i do have a camera. It's too dark right now. But the passenger side axel. The one that is just one piece, not 2. Well where it meets the tranny, there is a little green piece that seems to go into the tranny. Well I swear it comes out, I just don't remember how we got it out the other times. And plus my new tranny doesn't have one so it's gotta come out. But maybe tomorrow I can throw up a pic real quick of what it is im tlaking about

Yea that is the axle cup, you just need to pry it out, try wiggling it and prying at the same time. Do what JET said and stick a screwdriver between the cup and the tranny and hit it with a hammer.

Put the tranny in today. Of course it was a freakin whore at first. First we tried just two of us lifting it up in. Well we tried that a few times actually. But as always it was getting stuck. So we went back to our barbarak methods, jacked it up, got out the huge pry bars. And of course, it was still being a whore. So we jacked it back down, tried to lift it in again, and sure enough the thing just slid right in. God that was a wonderful relief. I still need to install the SS Braided clutch line i bought. Still need to put all the fluids in, need to connect the battery and all the lil plugs we undid still. Just a bunch of little things really. Hopefully she'll be purrin tomorrow. And then we get to do it all over again to my buddies Laser!!! woohooo. And then when I come home I get to do it all over again to Austin (IndiEP) laser. I should be a pro in no time right?

Oh and a hammer and a big prying thingamabob did the trick on that green thing!!!! thanx

Tranny is in on both cars as of about 30 minutes ago. Nick still has to add fluids and put his driveshaft back in and a few other random things. Mine is all done and moving! Only problem is that the shifter knob sits way forward. Where it used to sit in 3rd gear, is now where it sits in neutral. Gotta do a shifter cable allignment tomorrow. My buddy online told me just to take out the center console and adjust the Front/Back cable back like maybe 5 threads. Hopefully tomorrow she'll be all done!
