Evo Vii Rs Brake Swap

Saw this on evoempier

This is a VERY easy swap and the parts can be found at your local Kragen/Autozone/Advanced/what ever auto parts store.

The Calipers and Rotors off of the 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT V6 are the EXACT same as the ones off the Evo 7 RS in Japan.

So just swap them out like you would with the Brembos and now you can have 15in rims on your car for rally fun!

BTW the OEM rear Brembos clear 15in rims.

I just don't see the point in giving the car less braking ability, the factory brembos are part of what make this car awesome. To each their own though Would be cool if we could get REAL rally-style brakes.

Re: Evo Vii Rs Brake Swap

Do you know why the JDM RS comes with crappy brakes from the factory? Because Mitsu assumes all RS models will be heavily modified with a full array of aftermarket parts so they put the cheapest parts on it they can.

I'm just saying this is a low cost option for those looking to run 15" wheels and slicks, after all you have a parachute to stop you anyways

Re: Evo Vii Rs Brake Swap

I have to agree with v8klla, someone would only do this "downgrade" to save money from having to buy aftermarket baby brakes to fit with their small wheels and slicks.

Pretty cool IMHO.

Why don't you look into why rally cars use the parts they have before throwing smaller brakes and a light bar onto your lowered evo.

This has nothing to do with my car. I was just posting this to show people who might want to run smaller rim size for slicks and a small brake kit is still $1000-$1500 and to do it this way is less the $400.

Re: Evo Vii Rs Brake Swap

Thanks for posting this, I have always liked the idea of a smaller brake kit for my car if I make it a track car in the future.

Yeah, this is solid for those who want to run slicks. Beats the alternatives like really expensive smaller brakes or running Motorcycle drag tires on 17" rims that clear.

Re: Evo Vii Rs Brake Swap

We don't drive Subarus, we don't downgrade brakes to fit small wheels because we think we own rally cars. You want to do this go buy an STI, don't do it to a street driven Evo.
