Calipers

Well the car hasn't been driven for about 5 months, and its been sitting there with e-brake on the whole time.

I took it out for a ride yesterday and today to work, and i noticed that the rear passenter side one is kind of dusty more than others.

Well it looks like its catching a little bit and heating up like a mofo.

What would you guys suggest?

Going big brake is not an option. I don't want to have to use spacers or 18" rims all the time.

Wait so the back caliper put a *dent* into your rotor? If so just get the rotor turned..... Or if its really bad get a new one.

no dents or anything that i know..

just a fact that its catching a little or not releasing completely.


I will take it off tonight and take a look at it maybe just needs cleaning. or it just wants some loving from the sledge hamer...

Your caliper piston might be frozen. Do a rebuild or atleast take it apart.

Just let me know if you need brakes torn apart, for I am :bowdown: the brake rebuilding master.

Make sure that e-brake cable didnt just rust and stick. Check that before tearing apart the caliper.

Not quite yet. Put yours back together Then do a few more rebuilds and itll get you there. :bounce:

Checkers don't have them in stock, they want $75 plus $65 core for the rear one's. Mitsu wants $170 plus a core charge i'm sure.


Anyone have any used one's sitting around?

Get a rebuild kit. The kits for about a quarter of what a new caliper would cost and will work just fine for what you need.

Use air and pop out the piston, look at it. Make sure all surfaces are smooth and clean. You should not need a new piston, brakes rarely do. The rebuild kit will be some new gaskets new rubber for the slide pins, etc. Its very easy, lemme know if you need help.
