Re: Back From The Paint Shop
Very nice choice of color. That looks really nice. I was thinking of going slight darker on my car (it's the same as yours), but I have something new in mind now I probably won't do it until next winter though. My paint is still pretty good.

Re: Back From The Paint Shop
How much did that end up costing? And also, with Maaco, they won't paint the jambs right? (Like if you want a color change...)

Re: Back From The Paint Shop
At first glance(at the 2nd pic) I thought "what a shitty paint job" cuz I looked at the front wheel well and it looked like they didnt paint the fender. But Then I realized that its just the reflection of the yellow hoist arms.
But it looks really nice!

Re: Back From The Paint Shop
Yeah, look at all the reflections, they are extremely clear. Looks like they did a beautiful job!

Re: Back From The Paint Shop
I just looked at it in person, that Viper gray is a bit nicer shade than the stock silver. It's got a blueish tint to it, looks great in person.

$3150. Insurance claim and damage payment payed for all but $600 of it. Sure, they'll do the jams. Just depends on how much you want to pay. I didn't have them do the jambs cause I figured the colors would be close enough that it wouldn't be noticeable. Not like painting a red car white or something like that. I'm going to paint the engine compartment and underside of the hood black later on. I had to decide how much I was willing to spend on a 15 year old car that's let's face it, not worth all that much. Plus, it's my daily driver, not a show car.
They fixed the rust on both sides by welding in new metal. There was hail damage, a large ding on the driver's door, and it got hit right at the body gap where the pass. door and the front fender meet. So the door and fender had to be repaired. Plus, it's base/clear paint and I had them wet sand and buff it. All that extra stuff adds up. I had estimates over $5000 from other body shops. I just wasn't willing to spend that kinda dough on the car.

You mean the quarter panels in front of the tires. Yes they did:

Thanks! I'll tell you what, that was money well spent. 23 years of crawling under cars on jackstands was enough.

Re: Back From The Paint Shop
Yes, the Maaco in Osseo. Let me stress that this is NOT a show car quality paint job. There are minor flaws in the paint but nothing major and certainly nothing to get excited about for a daily driven vehicle. I got what I paid for and I'm satisfied.
Forgot to mention that the paint was faded and cracking along the top edges of the doors and quarter panels so all that had to be taken down to bare metal.

Re: Back From The Paint Shop
I believe thats the same Maaco that Brandon/Halon went to and was satisfied with.
