injector help

I just wanted some input on what injector size I should go with for my setup. My goal is no more then 300hp, 20-21psi race and 10psi street, and this will be my DD. I'm looking at either PTE 680cc($265) or some RC 550cc. I found a guy selling some *new* RC 550cc for $160. What else would I need to get if anything other then a dyno tune which I will do after receiving and installing everything.

My current mods are: 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS-T
*real* EVO3 Big16g turbo
ported 2g manifold
ported 2g o2 housing
AFPR
3" turbo back exhaust
SAFC
Boost/air-fuel gauge
NGK plugs and wires
Monza SSQV BOV
ebay hard intake & filter

parts coming in:
walbro190lph & rewire kit
MAF translator
2G DSM ETS 7" Street Kit from extremeturbosystems.com
HKS EZ EVC
*pending* 2g logger

Re: injector help

I would go with PTE 680s. LSE can get them for around 200ish new. PTE are more highly recommended than RC.

Re: injector help

550cc injectors will be perfect for your setup. Why will you be running so little boost on the street though? 10 psi is lower than stock. I'd run at least 15 if I were you, probably more (they'll be able to determine the exact amount when you're getting dyno-tuned).

Looks like you have a decent setup going for you, your next step should definitely be a FMIC kit though. I also don't see an intake kit listed, get a hard pipe with open element filter if you don't already have them.

Re: injector help

also 300hp on a 16g is hard but not impossible. You'll want to swap out the intake mani and TB and maybe go with a built head if you wanna hit 300.

How cheap we talking? condition? miles?

Yes as stated in my first post I'll be ordering the 2G DSM ETS 7" FMIC Street Kit from extremeturbosystems.com when I get my a taxes.

True 300hp will be hard but thats just a ball park for me to look at. I'll more likely look at around 250-275hp but eventually I'll get a ported head with some HKS 264/272 cams.

Oh I did forget to mention I have a hard intake and open filter but that will change once I get the GM MAF setup going then I'll be ordering a new intake eliminating the 2g mas with a K&N filter

Re: injector help

So should I just do it once and go with the PTE 680cc or would the RC 550cc meet the needs?

Re: injector help

Sorry, I didn't know what a "2G DSM ETS 7" Street Kit" was.

Either set of injectors will work fine, but the 550's should supply plenty of fuel for your 16G.

Re: injector help

"2G DSM ETS 7" Street Kit" FMIC system is what they call it on extremeturbosystems.com which I'll be ordering it from. Its a complete short route piping fmic system.

Guess I'll have to look into both injector choices and see whatever one I can get for cheaper. thanks.

Re: injector help

The cheaper one will be cheaper for a reason. I have been told the PTEs flow a little better and are easier to tune with than RCs. And before you get a ported head and cams do some research. Ported heads dont always mean they are better.

These numbers have been discussed before.

Why a built head?

Is moving towards the GM setup necessary for achieving your goals?

Are your referring to the different nozzle types available with fuel injectors?

Re: injector help

I'm on my way to 300WHP and so far i'm about 70 hp off, last time i dynoed at LSE was the year end closer cookout. Then i switched to e85 and made more power but i have no numbers to back it up. You can see my mods in my sig and all i am going to get next is cams, some 272's when i can find'em cheap enough, and i do believe that i can reach my goal.

I've done my research on the whole ported head and cams. I'm not planning to get it right away. I just merely stated that it was an option I was gonna look at doing down the road.

But back to the topic, I'll probably end up going with the PTE 680cc unless I can find a nice deal on some 550cc or 650cc. thanks.

Re: injector help

Go for 680's or 650's. You will not regret it. I know people who went 550 and upgraded a year later.

Re: injector help

We have found that a evo 16g using 680s with a FPR, AFC, walbro, and a FMIC will work the best together and net the most power on the dyno. I think the most power we have seen from a 2g with the mods listed above made ~270ish FWHP on our dyno, pump gas, safe boost level.

Yeah I would go with the PTE 680 thats what Im running, and if and when you try for more power you wont have to upgrade and spend more..
