bastard 20g questions

Ok, so like this past week or so I have been kinda contemplating a bastard 20g. I thought it might be a cool alternative to a 50 trim, it would look just small and pack a decent punch. Well, I was just thinking. If I am understanding everything right, a bastard 20g is nothing more than a 16g with a 20g compressor wheel. Well, since I already have the 16g, couldnt I just buy a 20g compressor wheel from FP and throw the bitch in there?

Other than that... what do you guys think about the bastard 20g? Any one know any rough power ideas or spool times?

Stay away from those piece of shit Slowboy turbos. There's a Bastard 20G that has blown up in the hands of 2 different DSMStyle members.

Re: bastard 20g questions

you cant just slap a new compressor onto your existing turbo, unless you happen to have a dynamic balancer laying around.

The wheel won't fit either.

Re: bastard 20g questions

The compressor cover has to be machined to fit the 20g wheel in it. The one I had/have also had a td06 turbine wheel on it, which your 16g will not come with. This was an awesome turbo, I loved it. Still no idea what happened to the previous owner, but one of the turbine wheels snapped on it after about 7 months of use (I installed on Jan 1 2006 and it broke about 2 weeks ago). I really only bought it because of the price (it was used). If I would do it again, I'd go with a straight 20G or maybe a simple SCM50.

Ok, thanks guys. I think I am going to go the SCM50 route.
