Opinion about this car i wanna buy...

What do you guys think about this car i want to get. I sold my old 1992 talon ESI not too long ago.. and well i miss it so much that i wanna get a TSI this time... What do you think about the price/condition? I mean it looks very clean and straight.

Re: Opinion about this car i wanna buy...

Looks to be a good car with no visual defects. I hate those red interiors though. I would offer less than $4500, that seems too high IMO. $3500 would probably be more fair, but pay whatever you feel its worth. If s/he won't budge on price and you like it for $4500 then go for it.

I'm with Hughes on the red interior, yuck. Real easy to swap out cheaply these days though.

Can you go test drive the car (I didn't look at the location when viewing the ad)?

Re: Opinion about this car i wanna buy...

I was interested in buying that car as well, looked nice. Also, about loans, I couldn't get an auto loan from my bank because the car was too old. So I just took a personal one

To be honest, with the market as it is right now, $4500 for that car seems pretty fair. I've seen quite a few 1Gs lately going for $5-6k, in similar condition.

Re: Opinion about this car i wanna buy...

well i doubt i might be able to get a loan.. I've never bought a car like that before, and I pretty much have no credit.

Its located in hillsboro , oregon.

If someone bought it before me.. I'd be one sad kid. Right now i got a plymouth grand voyager that doesnt even work.

How much do you know about DSMs? Its usually better to get something that is unmodded. I know that car isnt modded much. You would be suprised what people can mess up though.

Dane remember that car we looked at in like chaplin? haha that thing was a PILE!

just my $.02

Re: Opinion about this car i wanna buy...

I know quite a bit, I helped my friend rebuild his motor, and since i used to own a Nt one i know how much they need their maintence. Plus i have quite a few friends who know alot about em, so if i had questions id go here, or ask them. And I just love these cars, and how it feels to drive them.

Plus that car seems like its owned by a DSM lover like us

With the way interest rates have gone up I'd hate to see what a bank will charge you since you have virtually no credit, if you can even get a loan. Do you have a co-signer?

Re: Opinion about this car i wanna buy...

Well I can probabally get my parents to co-sign. If they say i dunno. then i gotta tell em how bad i want to get it.

And I would give the bank 500 down, so they might like that

Personal loan at 10+% with a cosigner.

Do you have any money to put down?

Re: Opinion about this car i wanna buy...

You should find out if a reputable shop or someone who knows DSMs did the head and t-belt. Ususally when someone says the t-belt and head were done it means the t-belt broke and bent some valves, could have even done some more damage. It would be worth looking into if you are serious about it.Car looks pretty clean otherwise.

I know if a car is older than 1998, then you can't get a decent interest rate like 5%. It is possible to get an auto loan but you'll take a hit on the interest rate. It's better than a personal loan IMO, since typical personal loans are > 18%.

Thats how it was for me may be different you.
