Detroit, What you're not seeing

Since SnowWhite brought it up in the Ferguson thread, I'll just leave this right here.

The lame stream media would rather keep you preoccupied than show you the truth.

Re: Detroit, What you're not seeing

Are awesome President wants to give illegals millions and millions of dollars to become citizens and get them on their feet however Detoilet even though this video is from 2009 for most part still is in the same condition. The priorities of this president really make me want to bash my head on a wall.

Why would we invest in illegals when we still have american citizens that are out of work, especially with cities that have close to 30% unemployment like in detroit. and there are two cities that are worse!

I also thought i read awhile back that China companies are buying up real estate and businesses and that Detroit is encouraging it. That is the last thing we need if its true, have not had a chance to look into that.

Re: Detroit, What you're not seeing

^It is true. They're betting on the idea that sooner or later Detroit will have a turnaround, and the properties they bought for pennies will be worth thousands. Detroit is encouraging it because any owner willing to pay back-taxes and start getting things moving in the right direction is better than no owner and abandoned properties sitting there rotting and crumbling. It's a sad state of affairs Detroit is in; it's also an excellent reminder as to how liberal politics and unions can cripple a once thriving and prosperous city.

Re: Detroit, What you're not seeing

Only a handful of cities filed for bankruptcy after not being able to recover from the crash of 2008. Detroit was one of them. The vast majority of the country did not suffer that type of catastrophe. I'd say overall, things are turning out relatively well. It looks nothing the market crash of 1929. But if perfection is your expectation instead of progress, we certainly have failed.

Its not that fact that the economy is coming back, for most it is. Housing prices are rising as well. Not looking for perfection either, but how about the media bringing some attention to it or obummer for that matter.

Re: Detroit, What you're not seeing

The video does bring to light several issues that lead to the current state of Detroit.

One thing that stood out to me was how the government spent $400 million on a 9 mile radius to build the "Model City". That's $40 million dollars per mile in 1961 dollars. That's crazy.
