Arrow Lor and Seng's Project (Goal: Fastest Eclipse Spyder FWD)

Don't mind the title of the thread. It's for attention and just a goal to keep us going.

More pix from progress..................................

History:

Well we bought the Spyder with a built 2.0L 4G63T. The car ran great while it lasted.
Than one day my bro took it out for a spin on the streets and came upon a brand new STI that came off the show floor. The STI wanted to play around so my brother couldn't resist.
Well story....My brother beat him easily, but the wastegate vacuum line fell off and this happened.

So now the car is sitting at Modern Automotive Performance (MAP) in Plymouth Minnesota.
It's getting a new heart as you are reading this.

Here is the car before the incident.

So stay tuned and I'll update as the project progresses.
The whole project should be done by next year. So we're going to try to be at the first Sport Comp Day.

Thanx to Chris and Kyle for keeping me updated and being patient with us.

Our Goal: To build the fastest Eclipse Spyder that will stay FWD. :P

-Lor

I too saw the car there. Those goals might be a bit high, but if you have the funding, go for it.

Yeah, it's high...but it keeps the car going. Cause if the goal was to go for a 13 or something...it would be lame..IMO anyways.

Thanx all.

JimWross purchased that car from my best friend who purchased it from a rebuildable car dealer in St. Charles, MN. That car is a former theft recovery vehicle out of Chicago if I remember correctly.

Hm, this is very interesting. I will be very interested in seeing how this project progresses, especially since its a convertible. Not trying to rag on ya'll or anything, I have just never really liked Spyders. But I am very interested to see how this turns out for you, and good luck! Keep us posted!

Well it looks like im not the only one going for this goal. I too want to build the fastest spyder. Fastest Ive seen with a time slip is like 12.5 which is pretty weak IMO. Good luck!

I still haven't figured out why someone would make a drag car out of a convertible. Especially one that needs serious chassis strengthening even for the stock horsepower.

Re: Lor and Seng's Project (Goal: Fastest Eclipse Spyder FWD)

I like the convertible......who expects a convertible to be fast. Especially an Eclipse Spyder in FWD form. I know it's probably not going to be anywhere as quick as if it was in an AWD chassis, but I'm sure going to have fun while being fast. I think it's going to be a nice feeling with the top down....and knowing you have lots of power on tap.
We could've easily just did a 2.4L in my brothers 92 TSI, but we figured since this one needed a rebuild now.....this one would be a perfect sleeper.
