Gauge opinions

I know I'm going to get oil pressure and water temp, just wondering what type. The autometer ones seem pretty nice, and they'd match my current sport-comp ones, I really like the black face OEM look. I was also told to get electric, not mechanical.

However, I can't decide between full sweep and short sweep. The prices seem to be about $100 more for full sweep, is it really worth the extra money for the nicer ones for a DD? Do I really need the extra accuracy?

Oil pressure short sweep
Oil pressure full sweep

Water temp short sweep
Water temp full swep

Or can anyone recommend something similar but maybe cheaper with still the OEM look?

Re: Gauge opinions

ProSport gauges, they are accurate and they look similar to Defi's but are much cheaper. Check out the amber/white gauges and the clear-lens gauges.

http://prosportgauges.com/

Water temp: $39.95
Oil pressure: $43.99

Both gauges are electric and include sensors.

Re: Gauge opinions

Personally I'd go Full Sweep. Might as well, better safe than sorry, right?

IMO those gauges you linked are fugly. I'm sure you can find something with a little bit more class to them then those, but to each his own. Get off summit, go try eGay even.

I'd highly recommend going Electrical. Unless you like hot oil running through your cabin.

Re: Gauge opinions

The only Autometers that aren't ugly are the Ultra Lites.

Those are ProSports, my buddy has them in his Evo IX and they are nice. They look similar to my Defi's at a fraction of the price.

Re: Gauge opinions

Jeebus those are cheap, those got bumped way above autometer.

I like the white/amber ones that turn black when off, looks sweet!

Re: Gauge opinions

Those look pretty awesome actually, and for the price you cant beat that! I loved my VDO guages I had in my old car, simple and cheap.

Full sweep would be nice, but really not needed unless for some reason they are hard to see?
