i think insurance would be too high for me to own a C5 or an M3.

but they would be nice cars to own.

the 330 or 325 has a Sport Package that will give you the M suspension.

might be worth trying to find.

The first bmw i test drove was a 325ci with the sport package and it was quite nice, handled great, but it was like 25k. Maybe try looking for an older one or private party only.

Lexus IS300. There's a few to be had for around $20,000. But if it were me, I'd get something cheaper and pay it off right away, or just pay cash for it.

I have been looking also. I am looking at slightly different cars, the BMW 3 series, G35, Caddy CTS, Lincoln LS, etc. The best bang for the buck is the Lincoln LS. I took one for a test drive and was amazed at how well it handled. It doesn't feel nearly as heavy as it is and the interior is awesome. It is the same car as the Jaguar X-type, but RWD basically. I am probably going to pick this one up in NYC this month. V8, sport suspension, leather, 5 spd auto, sunroof, 6 disc in dash, 46k miles, fully loaded for $12,500. It was $40k sticker when new.

Ever consider a cheap, fast Colt/Summit 4G63 motor Swap Super Sleeper?

Get a cheap beater. Don't take out a loan for some 20k car while you are trying to work through college.
