you know what i do, if i know it's a telemarketer and they do alittle schpleal i just simply hangup or go "mom, phones for u" leave it there for 5-10 min and see what happens. one time the person was still on - i just said - ur a dumbass, get a clue, no one was going to answer the phone and know one wants your product, leave me alone!
