Been a busy past few couple months, but I have a few updates for the dsm. In an effort to help this tiny 8cm housing breathe better with the huge compressor strapped to the other side, I took the grinder to it. I tried to open up the narrow part just after the waste gate vent as much as I dared. Manifold I didn't do much more than take the gating off a couple of the runners and smooth things out, didn't figure there was much to gain there.

Block is back from Gosh. Did a nice job with the rings on that, don't mind the hone job, it wasn't mint to start with, making hp, and piston sealing has never been an issue with any dsm I've had.

And I don't know about anyone else, but I have yet to find a good drain flange for a mitsu housing that actually worked. So I did what any machinist/car guy would do, I made my own. It's 1/2 NPT, I made it wider than the 1" ones you normally get, and I stopped the threads just short on the ID so the flange side hole would be smaller, to give it more width to seal on the gasket. Along with giving it the proper hole pattern to make it fit the mitsu without a mile of slop. I ended up using 7075, hopefully it doesn't corrode too bad. If I had a piece of 6061 I would have just used that. Reassembly should start next week. Still have to install the fuel line setup, and run some better wire from the CDI box to the coil pack so I don't loose any spark energy from that.

Oh, and does anyone have any 1.5" 321 stainless pipe around? Looking to redo the short part to the wastegate flange on this O2 housing with the right material so I don't have to re-weld it weekly.

I like that drain flange, i need to buy one. I'd like to make a complete .7mm+ drain line for my new turbo once i finish with the 16G.

Nice work.

My drain line is 3/4" push lok hose, have a 1/2" NPT to 3/4" barb that I get from Ace for like 7 bux, and I am going to have an alum barb welded to my moroso pan now. I'm not sure how picky the FP black is with oil returns being that it's a mitsu style housing, but I've ran a garrett that was so I don't want to start going small again and create problems.

So what do people run for catch cans? I am going to have 3 3/4" lines to vent now, and doubt this cheapo can I got is up to the task. I know catch cans are not all created equal. I'm gonna need one that does some real fume separating now that I'm venting directly off the block.

What is your new line setup?

I have 2, 3/4" lines off the vc, and 1 off the back of the block. Only using heater hose for mock up, once I have a perminant solution I will get some decent Parker hose.
I've been trying to avoid using manifold vacuum and intake to vacuum the crankcase but I suppose if I have a real catch can instead of an aluminum cup with fittings in it, I might not get that much oil in the intake tract.
I also don't want to change my oil every thousand miles either cause it 's so contaminated with crap from the fuel. So like usual, the right solution isn't the easy or cheap one. But I'm thinking the 2 can method may be the way to go.

I'm going to use a 2 can setup, Calan catch can is the best on the market hands down. I have his original can and I'll have another here soon.

he also goes by JCSautomation, but if you search calan catch can on tuners you will find all the info you need.

I plan on doing the same setup as you, 2 off the VC and one off the block. The single line will be using vacuum off of the intake and the 2 lines off the VC will have vacuum from the intake (pre turbo).
