Yeah I could haha. Actually have been driving it a lot lately but that's because she's been taking the evo almost every day!
On topic what does everyone think of this?

Plus a basic head job. Would definitely be in my budget and could just pay cash for it.

I'm sure MAP could put the same package together for cheaper. AMS isn't exactly known for being low-priced. Just keep in mind, as I've mentioned before, you'll be responsible for the labor and give up any warranty with this DIY kit. If you're confident in your engine building ability then go for it.

well i found a complete 2.3 longblock for sale, with paper work warranty etc from a shop in GA, BUT its a evo 8 motor. What would I need to do to keep mivec? I could always just sell the built head and slap my mivec head on but id like to keep the built one and also since I am worried the head on my car may be the problem. Could I tap into it and put the mivec lines on it? Is that something map could do for me?
edit: just called map out of curiosity. He said I could Use my mivec head, take the springs valves retainers out of the build 8 head BUT i would have to keep my mivec cams (fine by me) the only thing I wouldnt be able to use is the actual evo viii head which is ported and such. But still sweet I could just swap all the parts into my 9 head

If you want to buy a already built used engine a friend of mine down here is selling the built 2.4L out of his IX (w/Mivec). PM me if you want more info and I'll get it to you.

I'd be leary of spending money on that built motor and time to swap out parts only to put a questionable head on it.
Either way good luck with whatever you decide!

I'd go with the TX motor if that is the route you choose.

Here is what I got from him:
Definitely willing to ship if he's willing to pay for freight.
I don't like the idea of trading/buying a motor I've never seen. I'd rather sell it straight up. EvoD has a perfect IX block in their shop for sale I'll probably buy.
I'd ask $4800 plus freight. This is without cams, but with everything else in the head/block from oil pan to valve cover. Here's a list:
17k miles at 556/546 on Kan's mustang, no drag strips, no auto-x, no road courses, strictly daily driven, zero oil leaks
MAP Stage 2 block - KevinD built
Stock Crankshaft
Wiseco 1400HD Pistons - 10.5:1
Manley I-Beam Conn Rods
Full ACL bearings
ARP Studs
Buschur Baffled Oil Pan
BSE Kit
New (when built) OEM Water Pump/Oil Pump
MAP Stage 3 head porting
GSC Ti Retainers and beehive springs
AEM Cam Gear (Exhaust)
Modified Mivec Gear (per Aaron at English Racing)
AMS Headgasket
Stock Ignition
