The government can hand out money until there's no money left to give out, but it still will only be a temporary flattening out of the downward slope the economy is on. Until we get more good paying jobs back in this country so that the average middle class person has disposable income, no amount of stimulus is going to make a long term change. A few of the guys I work with say that they are making the same amount of money per hour that they were back in the early 80's. With the considerable increase in cost of living between now and then, there's not many people left with a lot of disposable income.
My point was that government controlled stimulus doesn't work. Why? Because it gets spent on "pet" pork projects that are way over priced (see the new high school in L.A.) and line the pockets of the already wealthy politicians. This does not make for a healthy economy. Only by having a lower and middle class of people with expendable dollars in their pockets you will have a healthy and growing economy.

That was exactly my point, It's just that having a "small" amount of expendable money isn't going to do as much as having a regular supply of it, that only a good paying job can deliver.

And the same thing can be accomplished by tax cuts that make a real difference. Something the Dems seem to have a problem understanding.

You would think an economics professor would have a better understanding. Spending what wasn't there is what got us into the this mess in the first place!

If you were a Somalian, you could move to Willmar and you'd have it ASAP and your bills would be taken care of too.
