First I'll start off with how I lost both my keys..

I was at my friend's house helping him work on his car before we headed back to IL where we both go to school. I end up leaving my keys at his house. I had my red talon key, house, garage, shed, and whatever else I had on there. Well they shipped them to our apartment but wrote the wrong address and they didn't get a tracking number so my keys have been long gone for like 3 months now..

So that's how I lost my first key. Then I ended up trading my S10 truck for JoeM's white talon and left my key in that truck. He also left his garage opener in the talon so we planned on meeting back up to get our stuff back. Well in short.. there was writing on his side of the title so I couldn't transfer it and he had to go get a duplicate title. Then he ended up calling me and telling me that a million things went wrong with the truck the night I dropped it off. (I just drove this truck 6 hours from Chicago to MN with nothing wrong with it and not to mention I never had a single problem with it while I owned it.) So he said he wants $400 cash on top of the trade or he wasn't getting a duplicate title and that I have a nice parts car. Then we agree on me giving him $200 which he was lucky I even agree'd to..

So I message him a month later seeing if he got the title, he said no. Then I wait like another month or more and still nothing.. Now I can't get ahold of him and my dad ended up going to the dmv. Apparently he sold the S10 already without even putting it in his own name. He changed his name and never even applyed for a duplicate title!

So anyway.. He has my other key and I doubt I will ever get it back.

Now my question is couldn't I go to the dealership with all the proof I have that I own my talon with a VIN number and have them make a new key for me? If not, then what are my other options other than replacing my door locks, ignition switch and trunk lock?

Pretty sure the dealership can cut a new key for you, but doubt it will be cheap. I would give a Chrysler dealership a call and see what the process is.

I picked up a tranny from him a few nights after he got that truck.

HE told me some of the things fucked up on it and wow i can't believe that truck was driven by anyone.

Also i hope the tranny is what he told me it is.

I got only one key with my car, I had Chrysler cut me a new key, from the VIN, for $22.

I'm not trying to throw him under the bus or anything.. That is just the story, and I did drive that truck for about 2 months problem free back and fourth from Chicago to Oakdale 4-5 times.

Thanks! This makes me feel better. Hopefully it will turn out the same for me. I did call the dealership but I got no answer so I will have to try again..

Was it just a bare key, no plastic thingy? Or did you bring in your own key? I'm thinking about getting a spare since mine also came with just one key. Also my key is a bit twisted and very worn.

When I got a spare, they had me show my insurance card, so I would take that with you just in case.

I will take my license, insurance card, title and whatever else I have on the car so I shouldn't have a problem there. I was actually more worried about price.
