You can find a 325i e36 or something similar for a cheap price. Doesn't have to be an M to build it up. ;)

Yeah, but why even bother? He knows what he's going to be doing with the thing so why start low? Start high and go from there. The cost of parts to bring the lesser car up to where the better car starts is probably more than the difference in price from the 325i to the m3.

I do have a spare chassis I could swap everything to, but that would put me in an even more uncompetitive class, in an already hopelessly uncompetitive car.

Why is this? Why would that take you out of SM?

^^ Wrong thread. This is Ryan's project thread, not the autocross thread.
Oops. Clicked the wrong tab. :o

Yes it would. I would mostlikely be in XP. ABS delete, 4WS delete, anything that didn't make it run or turn is gone. No sound deading.

For an update:
I have decided the initial plan of swapping everything to my 93TT is the best. I have lots of parts, and taking a small loss on everything adds up. I have also done a bit of math and I think the car might have a shot at being a little more competitive in the new class than I initially though.

But the biggest reason is, I just don't think I'll be happy with a "low power but fast around an AX course" car. I'll start a new thread when the other car starts going together.

From reading the rules, it looks like ABS and 4 wheel steering deletes are ok for SM. Good luck with the new project!

I guess the sound deading is the big one. I can't really just put new stuff in and say it's the same as stock. I also half wanted to XP it anyways.

I'm sorry to hear about your car, and glad you're ok. I'd definitely be interested in stuff if you're parting it out... keep us posted.

Let me know when you want to start working on the swap, if you want help.

I could use some help prepping the Nissan for Elko (final resting spot for it), so maybe we can swap labor.

Well since I have the week off, I've been working on dismantling the 92. Engine/Trans/T-case/Axles/Prop shaft/Rear Diff/Gauges/Engine harness/IC/Radiator/Passenger seat, and a few other things are all out already. I think I'm going to hang onto the major RWS componentes, I deleted it on the 93, but have had thoughts that it might be usefull. If I keep all the big stuff I will have a chance at putting it back (possibly in a modified state) should I want to. After the dismantling is done, I'll start a new thread for the "new" project.
