Let's be serious for a second, idleing does waste about 30% of american fuel, if every yahoo out there didnt need their car to be 90degrees when they get into it in the winter maybe fuel would be a little cheaper now. And the old tale about it uses more fuel to start the engine then to idle is only true for 30seconds, so if you plan on idleing for more then 30seconds, turn the car off pleez. It's not as serious a problem here where are air quality is alot better then other places with mountains that trap smog, especially at elevation. It's a good law, just wait till they do start handing out tickets, I would give you a ticket if I could, I would also pull any dumb ass who smokes and throws their butt out the window over and give em a ticket which is another thing cops don't do enough of. How many forrest fires do you think are caused by cigarette butts? Now I am ranting

^^how many forest fires are started like that when people throw them out on a paved road in a city?? not sure..
30% seems like a super high number for that, but im sure that numberincorperates when you are idling in traffic and all other situations like that.

Sounds like 30% was pulled out of your ass.
Just like this law. They need to fix real problems, not petty ones to make it look like they care.

How about the government quits telling people what they can and can't do with their property?

I don't understand what the point in idling for 3 minutes is anyways.

I idle for three minutes in the cold winter months. I get in, let my car idle for about three minutes to get the oil circulating and then take off.
None-the-less I think its a pretty trivial law thats going to be nearly impossible to enforce.

Yeah, 30% of fuel used in idling? Maybe 3%, and then who cares. We have no problems with smog here, and keeping people from idling their cars will have zero effect on anything, environment, gas prices, children in Africa.

I let it idle for about 1-2 minutes. Atleast you don't let it warm up for 20 min so it's 95 degrees inside.
