Yea prolly not from the oil, but Mobil 1 and Castrol syntec are what I use.
Audi just got fresh oil a couple weeks ago. Syntec 5w-40.

I change my oil filter every 3500 miles and change the oil itself at 10500 miles.
I suppose I could send a few samples off to Blackstone just for arguing rights. I have a full change coming up in 1000 miles.
First sample: 50 miles after a full change
2d and 3d samples: 50 miles after filter changes
4th sample: 50 miles before the next full change

Im using Shell Rotella 5w-40 synthetic and its working great. Keeps the lifters quiet and really looks decent after 3k with a Pure One filter. Im suprised that people didnt catch on to the diesel oil sooner. If it can handle a giant tractor turbo, my little evo 3 is a walk in the park. I have been using it for a year now and couldnt be happier.

I used nothing but Rotella on my old stock motor. But with the new motor I was using mainly synthetics. I had no reason to think oil quality has gone down until I read that article, which now has me back to using diesel oils.

Oh btw, stock oil change intervals on the Audi are 15K. I wont be doing that... probably twice a year regardless of miles. Maybe every 7k.

Go for the factory interval! Send a sample in after 6 months and see how its doing before changing it.

Rotella is all I used way back in the day with my white 1G Talon.

I would but leaving the filter in for 15k seems a bit risky? I dunno, just seems crazy. lol

Shouldn't be an issue as long as you're using a quality filter like the OEM one from the dealership. Does the A4 use the same canister style filter element that the Jetta GLI does? Those are known to last longer than your typical self-contained filters.

Yeah, the 2.0T's have the canister style on the side of the block if I remember.
15k?? Thats nuts! I ran Valvoline 10w30 in my laser up until recently. I switched to Valvoline full synthetic 10w30 and boy did it leak the oil. lol
