Ok I just picked up the Sports Compact Car magazine for the New Evo X. Well it talked about the lancer however it did touch on the Evo X a little bit. I don't know.... The evo was built for the WRC. This new one isn't really. I considered the evo and subaru wrx to be rivals but now I don't see them being in the same class. What do other people think? or is this way to early to be saying this?

The EVO has turned into more of a pavement scorcher, which is fine with me. The EVO hasn't been real competitive in WRC for a while. The smaller cars seem to do better. I think the Sti and the EVO are still in the same class though, they are still pretty similar.

WRC is Citron's baby as of late, but in reality, WRC has been based more by brand can get which driver. The new EVO X to me is more in the luxury fun without the need to add a ton of mods to make it enjoyable. It's a very possible 2nd car for us as long as Jana likes the paddle shifting.

I am looking at one becoming my DD, bye bye Lincoln! :D I will probably wait for the MR though, I hope they put the 2.4l in the MR.

My issue is if Mitsu will allow test drives and shit on the cars without going though the buying process first. Either we will replace the Prisim with that or I could try and get a good deal on trading the MS6 in on it and have it be my daily. Then we would probably replace the Prisim with a newer Corolla.

Even the Evo 8 and 9 have had little to do with their current WRC car.

I read that article as well. I believe it said they DO plan on using it for WRC. I could be wrong here, but I am fairly certain thats what I read. Mitsu is trying to revive the Evo X as a rally car. Its been weeks since I read that article though...

I think based on: open deck aluminum block, paddle shift gear box that who knows how much power it and the clutch can handle, the turbo is now in the back of the motor, so to me the car will be very basic bolt on car. I hope the car can be modified similar to dsm's now, but I doubt it. It should be a good DD but I do not know how much aftermarket will pop up.

Wow I didn't know if I was going to get ripped on putting this thread up.

It seems like the magazines right now are just ass kissing mitsubishi for redesigning it. But as it has been said, it is more for a DD now. I don't think they sold very many evos as they hoped. So then they made the evo X more for the public so that they could sell more. To me, it just seems that we are loosing many of the modern day muscle cars that are affordable. Evo has gone soft, no more supra, S3, RX-7, Skyline (which is comming out soon but it is going to turn soft as well so that it can sell to the public), MR2, Eclipse lost its AWD, camaro, firebird, Mustang is still there actually. The later 90s were a good generation of cars. These new cars have gone kind of soft.
However I can pick up all the used ones cheap:sasmokin:

They aren't using it for the WRC because mitsubishi is done giving money to the drivers. Subaru hasn't yet. They pay their drivers with lots of parts. If any team will compete with the evo X they would have to buy their own parts and that is if it will make a good rally car. They kept the engine to only 2.0L so that they could say that it didn't loose it rally heritage.
:angryfire:
I think they should look back on the s3 and they should have put a 6 cylinder twin turbo, or something really wild in it.

Yup, sad but true. The Japanese supercars are dead, and the real (turbo) sport compacts are dying. Now that I can finally afford a brand new sports car, I find myself digging through whats left of the 90's sports cars, hoping to find something clean and unabused.
