I work for a car dealer so if they are voiding warranties they are actually not legal... i had a fully custom 2003 jetta gls i brought to Burnsville Vw and it was not voided for a water pump leak.

I don't think you're understanding the reality here.

http://www.automedia.com/Aftermarket/Parts/vs/OEM/Warranties/dsm20021001aw/1

It's not the "written law" that a company can't void a warrenty for aftermarket parts use. It's general practice for some car producers like Mitsu and Subaru to be very stingy on cars like the EVO and the WRX STi which are limited in production over other cars. For the simple reason they are often bought for the purpose of modding and racing. Many of the owners will return a car to as close to stock as possible before bringing a car in for any warrenty for this reason. This is why some in the car world (EVOs, SRT4s, WRXs) had their liscense plates written down while at local tracks. It's excessive abuse and in this case if a dealer finds mods on a car that lead to extra HP or Torque then they generally will make a case to get out of the claim. It's then that the owner has to take the next step and fight it and priove his point. Most just drop it and pay. There is nothing illegal about that.

How come you edited your original post? I enjoyed your comments about warranties being voided due to intakes, chips, ect.

haha, I don't really give a fuck if my warrenty gets voided, if I void it, its my own fault. From what I've heard, evo's have been uber reliable for a lot of people, even with no warrenty on it. There were dudes with big-ass turbo setups from all over the country that drove to the shootout this year and then drove home with nary a problem.

hey, what's wrong with the evo's windows...

Tell that to all the people who got their warranties voided for stuff that wouldn't affect anything reliability wise. A turbo timer would actually increase reliability if anything.

I worked for a car dealership too, that doesn't make me an expert of what all dealerships around the country can and can't do, nor does it make me a certified paralegal, so I doubt it granted you those magical powers either.

Meh to you n/a guys. "reliability" "blah blah" "lag" "too much power" "wet sand in my vagina" "blah blah". Hey Scheides, do what you want. Either way it can all be "reliable" but I'm more than sure you're smart enough to know that it's only as reliable as it's owner/tuner so it doesn't blow up because of some street "tune".

As far as warranty goes. There are some that are very good about "mods" around here.
