is that silver heat shield important? Will it raise or lower engine temps? will it cause my paint to be ruined on the hood?

try not to get the alternator or most wiring wet, fuse boxes, etc

get into all the tiny places when you wash too. And buy engine dressing

rinse everything and dry with a rag

just use some degreaser stuff like engine brite, you spray it all over and use a rag to scrub
