so coating the inside will help prevent the heat staying in the metal, because the inside is coated, stopping much of the heat from ever getting into the metal in the first place

so, if you coat the inside, then that is a barrier before the air even gets to the metal

because it's keeping the heat in the metal, not letting it out, which is good for underhood temps, probably good for the exhaust flow because the air is hotter, but not so good for the metal

now, ever heard of people mentioning coating the outsides, or using a thermal wrap on the outsides, tends to lead to the metal cracking....
