my car randomly leaks radiator fluid after being driven, its only sometimes. Would not having any coolant in the overflow tank do any harm? It seems like its leaking from the lower radiator pipe but i am unsure? anyone else have any ideas and or questions/comments?

Well I would have the system pressure tested so you can see where the leak(s) are and I would keep the overflow bottle filled to the full level. If you have worm gear hose clamps on your coolant hoses, tighten them! (Obviously) And if you dont, "upgrade" to those.
