Spark Issues

I just swapped a 6 bolt into my 95 Talon and am having some problems getting it to fire up. I am thinking it has something to do with the signal going to to coils. What I have found is that when I put my multimeter with an inductive clamp on the spark plug wires is that cylinder #1 gets about 440 rpm #2 gets about 0rpm #3 gets 640rpm #4 gets 0rpm then i tried swaping the wires on the coil 1 with 4 and 2 with 3 the readings after that were #1 gets 0 #2 gets 640 #3 is 0 and #4 is 440. After this i tried swaping the coil with my 2g coil and the problem is exactly the same. Also when cranking there is no reading on the Tach, i really don't remember if there should be while cranking. If anyone has any ideas as to what could cause this, i would appreciate it.

Sounds like you aren't getting signal to one of the coilpacks. Re-check your wiring to make sure you tapped into the cam and crank sensors correctly.

I am wondering if it is possible for only one side of each coil pack to be firing because I thought whenever a coil fired it fired both sides at the same time so there is always a waste spark. I may be wrong but thats what my thinking is now.

Both sides of an individual coil are required to complete the circuit for any spark to happen. If you are seeing spark on one side, it is also on the other.

Have you installed a 1g cam sensor? You will need to do this since the 95+ use 2 separate sensors. The 1g sensor integrates both of them into one sensor. I'm guessing you may not have one of them hooked up?

And also, if i'm correct you will need to either switch 2 wires around or reverse coil packs to get the correct firing order.

I have the black 1g cam sensor and i am pretty sure its wired up correctly, i guess i could try switching the signal wires around. I have also switched the wires on the coils to compensate for the changed firing order. I guess i'll have to do more checking, there must be something wrong in the wiring somewhere like a ground or something, or could it possibly be a bad cam sensor?

I may be getting somewhere on my spark problem but some input would be helpfull. I tested the resistance on both of my coil packs today. The secondaries showed 13k ohms which is well within spec but the primarys on both coil packs showed .6 ohms which is just below spec. Would this cause the coils to have weak spark or not spark sometimes. I noticed when i turned the CAS by hand the the coils would occasionly give out an extremly weak spark.

What kind of voltmeter is it? Unless you have a very nice one, they will usually have some leakage and skew the numbers when they get small. How are your grounds?

Its not a top of the line voltmeter but its pretty good. Its a Digital Mac Multimeter. I was thinking of this to but i thought it would have showed resistance on the high side and not low. As for grounds, which ones?
