Exclamation Reverse lights dont work!!

So rendomly like two weeks ago I realized that my reverse lights dont work anymore. My girl friend just bought a 96 eclipse and her's doesnt work either. Is this common on these cars? What should be the first step on figuring out what the hell is wrong?

The bulbs or ok and the wire's are ok to the housing. What makes the lights go on when you put it into reverse?

Re: Reverse lights dont work!!

There's a swich on the transmission that may have come unplugged, or a wire is broken somewhere.

Re: Reverse lights dont work!!

I'm not sure where it is on a 2g, but on a 1g it's right on the top, kind of in the middle.

Re: Reverse lights dont work!!

Unplug it, unscrew it, buy a new one, screw it in, and plug it in.

Re: Reverse lights dont work!!

Alot of people don't notice their reverse bulbs are out. You sure it's not just a bad bulb? If not then try the switch.. Other than that your going to have to start tracing wires.

Re: Reverse lights dont work!!

I'm not too sure what you mean by unscrew it its just a plug in with wire's that disappear into the harness but I could be wrong I'll check again...

Re: Reverse lights dont work!!

get a deep socket, I can't remember what size it is (maybe 17?) and undo and unscrew it. The part under the switch is like a bolt head. When screwing the new one back in, be sure not to screw it in too much/too tight, otherwise the mechanism inside gets jacked, and the switch itself can snap off from the threads/bolt part.. trust me.
