Wastegate: Dump Or Recirculate?

What is your guys opinion. Right now I have my wastegate dumped and I kinda like how it sounds under boost, it sounds mean. BUT with is recirculated you would hear the turbo spool up which also sounds mean. What do you guys think?

Re: Wastegate: Dump Or Recirculate?

I used to have dump and started to hate it after a while. Went to recirculating and haven't looked back. On my 3rd recirculating setup now. Something about hearing that turbo at full boost and not exhaust dumping out is what I love.

DUMP is ricy! Now ask yourself if you would rather have a nice clean looking/sounding car or a ricy car?

I vote recirculate. It's a tad more expensive in general, but if you have the money I'd do it.

External dump is fucking sick, but I would do an recirc. If its a street car that will see a lot of dumping i would recirc it.

I've had my car dumped for a long time now. I like the sound of it, but I've never heard a recirculated either so I have to be a little bias.

Re: Wastegate: Dump Or Recirculate?

I dump right now and I have been for about 7 months or so. It's starting to get really annoying now.. Although video's of my car at the track with the dump sound sick as hell, I would just rather hear the turbo.

Re: Wastegate: Dump Or Recirculate?

Dump isn't ricy on a bigger turbo
Dump is fine for the street if your wastegate doesn't open until ~30+psi

Its proven to make more power and frankly sounds mean.

It never gets annoying on the street, I never hear my dump unless I am going WOT. Half throttle or even 3/4 throttle is more than enough to put around town and you will never hear the dump.

A 16g or 14b with an internally gated dump and 18psi is dumb

Pussy turbos+internal gates+low boost+dump does=ghey though.

Re: Wastegate: Dump Or Recirculate?

DUMP! Get a bigger turbo if you want to hear spooling. Actually i rarely even here the wastegate activate. I dont usually drive crazy on the streets, and at 25psi daily it rarely opens.

When i was dumping on the 50 trim it did get a little annoying because i would hit full boost earlier. But now im on the SCM61. I really should eventually upgrade to a BB turbo.

Re: Wastegate: Dump Or Recirculate?

I've got the external dump and I love it. It's an easy way to know how much boost you are at. As soon as I hear the dump I know I'm at 15psi. idk I think it sounds badass, but I haven't heard a recirc setup either so my opinion is bias.

Re: Wastegate: Dump Or Recirculate?

My wastegate in recird'd off of my o2 housing, and I love it that way. There's no way I would ever dump it, to me it just sounds horrible.
