jdm 1g tranny question

A friend of mine in GA has a 1g tranny that he can switch between front wheel drive, and all wheel drive in just a couple of minutes....

Is there any way to adapt that tranny to a 2g?

Thanks

Re: jdm 1g tranny question

You would also need the T-case for it to work correctly even with a 1g. With a 2g you would have to adapt the motor mounts as on a 2g there are 3 on the trans and on a 1g there is only one. It could be done but likely wouldn't be worth the effort unless you have some strange reason for wanting to be able to do it and a buncha extra money burning a hole in your pocket.

You can go to fwd by dropping the t-case, rear driveshaft and putting in a VCE, welded VC, or spool center diff for burnout constests or dyno runs if thats what your after...

Re: jdm 1g tranny question

The way i was planning on doing this however, was to switch the internals of the trans. Mabye modify the case of the 2g trans if needed.

Just a thought
