FWD under the radar in the 8's
I've been reading this guys' posts on Toonerz for a while now. He really knows his shit! Seen this, it amazed me.
Got to a test and tune today after a few changes. First pass was tuning, second pass was 9.35 at 148.9mph at 30-31psi.
Third pass was at ~35psi:
1.4229
3.8512
5.823 at 124.98mph
8.9928 at 153.18mph
I turned it up to ~41psi for the next pass, but didn't realize I still had fuel cut set at ~42psi. It didn't bump that until 3rd gear, but it was pretty much the end of the pass when it happened. I coasted from the 1/8th to a 9.3 at 130mph and the track was closed when I got back to the pits.
There is a slim chance I'll make it out one more time this season and turn the wick up a little more before the off-season upgrades commence.

I think he even has a source for them front clips that are available for purchase, if anyone cares.
Also, I believe he has signed up for PINKS All Out!

Re: FWD under the radar in the 8's
Pretty sweet for what seems to be a Air to Air intercooler.

Yeah, he just built a huge new intercooler if those are the newer pics. He supplies the valve springs for Marco's and Brent's cars. He knows his stuff. Look around his site, you might even find a high speed camera video of a DSM valve spring at 8000+ rpm.

Re: FWD under the radar in the 8's
Why doesn't he use a liquid to air intercooler? Maybe doesn't want the added weight of the heat exchanger, water tank, etc?

Re: FWD under the radar in the 8's
I just found this thread, thanks for the props! Liquid to air is a huge pain in the butt and the performance advantage compared to an air-air is very slim. It is also added weight in bad places. I'd rather tuck my new garrett core nice and low and in front, where it is.
The 8.99 run was nowhere near potential and next season should hold a great deal more potential as well.

Re: FWD under the radar in the 8's
I'll link up some build pages tonight or over the weekend. I've got all kinds of crap on different pages, any requests on what you would like to see?
Those coils are Toyota 1zz coils. They have built-in transistors and I'm running them with that as they were in OEM trim (at 135hp). So far, they work really well.

Re: FWD under the radar in the 8's
Here are a couple pics of the new rig, I've got some dyno time scheduled this weekend.
It is the biggest garrett bar and plate core, 12.75 x 5.1 x 28. This is my baseline setup before a couple other winter changes. I'm hoping for pretty good power from this setup compared to old intercooler and stock throttle body setup. I also made a couple housing changes to the turbo, still the same 74mm borg warner rotating assembly though.
