Engine problem

I have a 95 eclipse GS-T, earlier today I launched it. Alittle bit after that my car started shaking when I shift it and kind of dies down after I get to higher RPMs, and the check engine light went on. I looked under the hood, none of the vacuum lines were detached or anything. The engine shakes and the RPM goes from about 400 and jumps to about 600 repeatedly.
Does anyone know what this could be?
Please help

Re: Engine problem

The boost guage is showing boost and the blow off valve still works. Could it still be that?

Re: Engine problem

I hooked a scan tool to it, and it showed a missfire, could it be the timing?

Re: Engine problem

Sounds like a blown IC hose to me....either that or pull your wires one by one until you find the one that is not firing. Then check for a bad plug, wire or disconnected wire (Accel's are known for that).

Re: Engine problem

I tried pulling the wires and the all made spark, so im going to try getting new spark plugs and see if that helps.

Re: Engine problem

Well I got back from driving Bodes car, few thing I noticed, the UICP seems to be very solid with no leaks, it sourta sounds like there is a hiss coming from the throttle body but I am not sure if it is leaking or not, anyway I would doubt that a boost leak is the cause of this. At least on my 2g when I had a slight boost leak the thing would kill coming to a stop almost every time, nothing like that happened in this car. Bode was concerned maybe the valve timing was off, the car seems to always run a little rough but every once in a while it will drive pretty smooth, if it was a timing problem I would think that it would always be one way or the other. While driving, sometimes in the the car would shake bad as if you were in way too high of a gear and you would lost most power. I am thinking maybe ignition and tomorrow I am going to swap in my plugs and wires since I know they were working just a few weeks ago. Any other ideas from anyone? When my car was missing badly from plugs I would only sometimes get a misfire code, the CE comes on right away here. I'll double check the code tomorrow anyway just to be sure on that.

Re: Engine problem

Swapped on my plugs and wires, erased code. Runs fine now and CEL hasn't returned.
