just picked up some dunlop dz101's

I picked up some dz101's today... 225/50/16... Anyone running these and if so what do you think? Before I mount them it would be nice to know what you all are running and what the best bang for the Buck is.

They are good tires. I have used them before on the mirage hatch before it was sold to a guy in chi town. I am running dunlop star specs on the Spyder I really like them.

That's good to hear thanks Mark... I'm limited with my 16" wheel size... Every tire vender we have was trying to get me to go with the Goodyear eagle GT, I've seen tons of those come in wearing weird and making a ton of road noise.

Re: just picked up some dunlop dz101's

They are a very mediocre performance tire. I have road raced on the Dunlop DZ101 and the Dunlop Star Specs on the same car in the same conditions on the same track. The grip difference between the 300 treadwear DZ101 and the 200 treadwear Star Specs is substantial. In a low HP car it was a good 4-5 seconds lap time difference on the BIR short course.

Yea, DZ101 != Z1 star spec. If you aren't racing or making a lot of power it probably won't matter for you on the street though.

Re: just picked up some dunlop dz101's

I really appreciate the advice... I'm going to mount them tomorrow, by the time I burn them out I'll be ready for a more respectable set of wheels and tires... The current worn out winter tires get real greasy in 2nd and 3rd since I bolted on the 16g and got rid of the hardware store boost controler haha, sounds like the dz101's will cover my needs for now. I'll let you guys know how it goes after I spin them on.
