I think you missed the point, which was that if he only wanted to make 430 he could have saved himself the cost of the turbo and build to do it. If you're going to drop that dough, you might as well turn the boost up a bit and make it worthwhile instead of being a fucking pussy.

I made ~430whp @ MAP with my BBK on pump gas...maybe said car isn't lucky enough to get corn...just like my car back then. It sucked, but then again that's why I added an alky kit

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

An old FP Green is only good for 10-30whp more than a stock Evo 9 turbo, so even if it wasn't at low boost/conservative/etc it isn't going to have a lot of room to grow. If he has the HTA version, he would have some room to grow. A 2.3l isn't going to make a maxed out turbo make any more power either than it would with the 2.0l.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

The stock 9 BOV was leaking and there was issues with the dyno so he took it home for the weekend.

They will be turning it up and trying to break 500whp which should be doable.

Looks like I might have my nitrous kit sold too, so no juice for me :O(

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Well I haven't really done much with the 'ol girl for a long time.

But I sold my FIC 950s and threw in the RC1200s that I have up for sale, they run good but with all the good weather (no salt & 40s) I got itching to drive the car again so I did.

Moved to her new home on my friends driveway, and he said that it can go inside so this weekend hopefully she will be in and I can make some progress.

I have FF OFH to go in, gear display, 3-port solenoid for boost control via link. Then I will just be trying to fix small leaks and installing parts I've had laying around for a while, like the ES bushing kit I've had for about 6 yrs.

Sorry for the lame update, I'll try to have pics up next time.

What color shift display did you get? I kind of want to get one as well but wanted the orange and he's out of stock last I checked.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

wow, I didn't realize it has been so long since I updated this.
But the car sat on the driveway till about middle of jan, then I had to push it inside because I sold all the injectors I had.
I decided to sell things I didn't need or that needed to be changed that's why the injectors were sold.

I sold my wideband and got a plx m300, evo 8 steering wheel, vacuum pump, along with those other parts above.

Right now the car is apart a bit, I need to install all the mentioned items, I pulled off the FMIC and cleaned up the install, I need to do some painting so the metal doesn't rust.
I need a new radiator since my the lower 2-3 inches of it is corroded to hell.

Basically I need to get the car back together asap, and buy injectors. I also picked up a new t-case from a guy on link, he had it rebuilt and it only has a few thousand miles on it.

I'll make a newer update with pics of my mess.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Ok finally a worthy update.

During feb. after removing parts, I finally got to installing parts, well part.
Like these:

Look familiar? Same ones as I had on my old car:

All done, i missed these. Opening a DSM hood with a latch was weird to me.

Cleaned up my FMIC install a bit and layed down some primer, the car looked bad because you could see partial white paint thru the fog light holes so I took this time to take care of that.

All done, it will look so much better and not so junky.

4/6/10- Losing a bit of my virginity here, doing this I will get a chance to install a HG and headstuds the right way, instead of one by one.

I was pushing coolant as usual, as I have in almost all of my cars that basically made enough power to overcome ARPs. I actually got used to this and thought it was somewhat normal.

HG on motor:

Back of the motor, you can see on the drivers side where oil was leaking down.

I just realized basically every corner of the HG was leaking.

Old crusty head, has rusty coolant ports:

As she sits, All done for the night 4/6/12

I guess now I need to check the block for straightness, I'm gonna throw on a 2G head I have laying around.
I have FFH to put on the car, I also took the '90 OFH off the car tonight. But I'm gonna wait and make sure the block is good before I reassemble any part of the motor.
I also got most of the PLX installed, just need to hook up wires.

I'm trying to make progress so i can make proving grounds, but to be honest it will be damn close if the everything is good, if not I'm probably done for the year. We will see, I'm hopeful.

Hell if i know, if I have the time then I don't have the money, and if I have a little money then i certainly don't have the time.
A lot of things I wanted to do myself and you can all give your opinion on this, but maybe I'm being ignorant about it.
Example, I have active toe elims and they aren't in the car because I wanted to be the one to put them in, now I don't feel my welding skills are up to snuff for something like this so they aren't in. I do know plenty of people that would weld these in and other things for me but instead I just put it off. I don't know at this point, i do know it sucks having things sit here or be crappy like my exhaust.
Driving, it needs HG, injectors, swap T-case and I should be driving it, oh and tune of course for injectors and new head and such.

I have a stock 2G intake attached to a 2G head I got from desolate on here, it should be ready to just throw on, but we will see.

Cams, I don't have $$$ for and in my quest to buy things once I will just get cams once I build a motor, plus cam swaps are stupid easy the right way. 30mins maybe?

Hopefully I'll get some more done today, we will see though I have to go out in a bit here.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

4/7/12:
Didn't do a lot to the car, well kinda. Today Jesse cleaned up the garage and I helped while working on the car, it feels a lot nicer and like things move a lot quicker out there.

Anywho yesterday I forgot to add something that I found when I pulled the head:

Well I'm not sure how the car felt about that or how long it was like that, it couldn't of been too long actually, 1 because I didn't really drive the car that much last year and 2 I'm pretty sure that I pulled it sometime last year.

Anyway, I'm in need of an insert.

I also found a great deal on what is easily the best susp. setup for a 1g under $1600, Koni yellows with GC coilovers loaded with eibach springs, helper springs and torrington bearings for the helpers. So I pulled my stock susp. yesterday too.
No more monster truck/4x4!!!

I also painted the top core support, here is before and after:
Before:

After:
