Please Help! Car wont start at all an ran fine a week ago

Ok i have a 91 plymouth laser that i bought from a guy an it was fine until the tranny went so it took me forever to find a fwd dsm tranny. then i finally found one the other day at the junk yard. so today with a little help from the bro we finally got it changed. got everything done. an now it wont start WTF? i started it periodicly and then switched the tranny a nothing. cant figure it out. cant hear the fuel pump but when i pulled off the return line there was fuel but only when cranking? doesnt seem right. there is spark cause it will sputter if it sits for like a couple seconds then fires a little then jus turns over. does it over an over. hooked up all vaccume lines an double checked the wiring an i dont kno what could be wrong??????

Please post a response an let me kno what you think anything will help.
thanks

make sure all the grounds are attached. make sure all the connectors are tight. its pretty easy to overlook that stuff when your doing a big job like that but its almost always the case that something was not re-attached or plugged in all the way.

Re: Please Help! Car wont start at all an ran fine a week ago

well, there is a couple. The cam angle sensor, the ignition pack(transistor pack), the mass airflow sensor, throttle posistion sensor. I cant remember for sure if 1g's got it, but there should be a ground thats held on by a starter bolt thats easy to misplace when dealing with all that stuff. the ground between the head (could be the intake manifold-cant remember) and the body, the ground between the body and the battery.

My own personal demon was the connector to the transistor pack. It seemed like I had to really actually try to push that one on.

ya i didnt mess with an thing like the cas or the ignition coil an i connected the starter ground. this might seem like a dumb question. should i be able to hear the fuel pump when the key is on? like the typical quick little noise from the tank??

Maybe you should take a look at the ECU since it sat so long.

Sounds kind of funny, but it looks like a bad head...Mine was doing that also...check everything that people been saying.. Do a compression Test, because your car might of been sitting a little long.

Make sure you have all the positive and negative leads attached to the battery. Once before I had problems with starting and it was from a loose positive lead. I've also had an ecu go out and that caused no start as well. Usually if all things are fine I'd check that. If you have a fuel pump rewire check to see if you attached it back on.

WOW A COOLANT TEMP SENSOR CAN PUT YOUR CAR ON ICE LIKE THAT!!! My goodness i better check all my sensors, and grounds. My car wouldn't start after a manifold swap! Embarrassing enough turned out to be a missing bolt in the manifold and mis matched distributor plus ^_^....Now all that is left finding another vacuum leak and im good to go!!
Say does anyone know where i can get a boost leak test kit from??? I wanted to build one but its so hard finding the parts....

Home Depot will carry everything you need to make a boost leak tester.
