Re: Slicks and Tire Sizes

These are pretty much going to be track only tires, MAYBE put them on for a night or two max to try and play with the big boys. So they are going to be track tires only.

I've got my sweet Fuzions on my gst wheels for mad traction on the street already

Re: Slicks and Tire Sizes

yeah in the summer i may look at a set of the mickey ETs for track use and pick up a set of BFG KDWs for street use.

Re: Slicks and Tire Sizes

I would still rather have a set of full slicks, over set of DR. I don't see the point to get a tire that only hooks kind of good over a tire that would hook a lot just because I could drive on the street with them. I'm also very far from ballin' and don't think I could afford to drive on DR all the time and have to keep replacing tires.

Re: Slicks and Tire Sizes

problem with hooking alot when you are making a shit load of power is the wear on the other parts, Transmission, Driveshafts, Differentials, transfer cases. Sometimes a little slippage can be a good thing.

Re: Slicks and Tire Sizes

DRs often cause more drivetrain breakage than slicks on AWD cars.

I'm guess this is from the skip skip boom effect?

Re: Slicks and Tire Sizes

Yes, and the driveline shock. The sidewalls of slicks will wrinkle and flex on the launch, while a DR won't flex much at all, so if you hook with a DR, the that initial shock can be hard on the driveline.

Re: Slicks and Tire Sizes

Brad will probably start breaking shit though, since he hasn't hooked at all with his Walmart special or whatever tires he was running.
